Hey guys

Like all the new modern designs there's just so much glass and sliding doors...even in a gated and guarded housing area it still doesnt feel safe. Alarm and CCTV is a must I know.

What do people normally do? Security mesh is so expensive but looks like the best option. grills on the other hand would be really quite ugly cause there's so much glass. Security tint by itself is not enough for sure...and do we need to secure the 2nd and 3rd floor windows too?

Feels like normal intermediate house is much much easier to secure haha

Thoughts?

If one can afford a sd .......

Having said the above, one can install photobeams in the garden compound as the first layer of security which I did, or..

Roller shutters like those used by uniqlo as alternative to grills. My friend did it for his house as he sells the product. Is up to you whether you like it but nothing is 100%.

Im using safety glass/frame sliding doors & safety glass/frame windows.. laminated glass with uPVC frame, it's more harder to break compare to normal grille.

Price is subjective but i think still OK, 4 panels sliding door around rm10k - rm12k, 3 panel casement windows around rm2k+

Photobeams sounds good, will definitely do that as part of the alarm system. Wow, never thought roller shutters was an option..interesting!

Ah ok..considering panther protect for the sliding doors that can open so at least got option to leave the glass door open..cost is roughly the same?

If you have a good gng neighborhood then security is not a big issue. My house has just as much glasses than any other houses and most of my windows are floor to ceiling.

What do I do? So far only CCTV for front entrance and car park. Nothing else. If you need to put so much security in gng community then you really need to question why bother to have gng in the first place.

A true gng supposed to have perimeter surveillance with 24 hrs security patrolling. There is a risk that the internal security may be the one that commits crimes but that can be mitigated by good selection of reputable security providers by the management.

I live in both type, for working man, apartment give more comfort and peace of mind. For family you may need bigger space apartment or landed house. But again landed house come with more maintenance. It's all about what you want, you will get it.

One solution would be 5mm optical safety tint. It is not cheap though. What you get is the heat IR and UV rejection plus security. I am at the point of about to do such but with normal tinting as heat is my issue rather than security. Standard thickness of tint is 3mm.

This solution will not affect the look of your house design while gives you some level of protection. If you combine with alarm and CCTV I am sure it may do the job

It depend on area. I don't have grill for my house window on the ground floor. Is really not a concern at all.
