Having some issue with my HDD connected to mobo sata. The copy speed from SSD to HDD sata is just 5mb-10mb/s (occasionally 20mb/s). When I connect the HDD to external USB 3, the SSD copy to HDD is more than 100mb/s. Tried swapping the cable of sdd and HDD, the problem remains where sdd copy to HDD is still 5mbps.
P.s: all scenario when HDD copy to SSD can reach 100+Mbps.
I'm using Windows 10, 8gb ram, 650w psu, Asus h97 pro mobo. Any thought on this problem?

From Asus official site, can't find any new drivers...

Check if your ahci enable , if once enable booting got issue Google search how to enable ahci without window reinstall this was way back w7 era not sure the w10 will have this issue or not maybe not since h97 old chipset driver should be included without hassle Make sure you plug into sata3 that from official and not those sata3 port provided by the motherboard brand This post has been edited by zuozi: Jul 11 2020, 04:36 PM

I've seen this happen on my old MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard. My motherboard had 6 x SATA ports from the Intel Z97 platform, and 2 additional SATA ports from ASMedia. For whatever reason, devices that use the ASMedia ports tend to suffer. Sometimes they just disappear from BIOS and Windows. Sometimes I get performance issues. In the end I stopped plugging any hard disks to the 2 ASMedia SATA ports.
I took a look at your motherboard's layout. SATA ports 1, 2, 3 and 4 are normal SATA 6.0Gbps ports. SATA port 5 and 6 can be used as a single SATA express connection, or 2 x SATA 6.0Gbps connection. There shouldn't be any difference which port you're using, but I've had it happen to me before, so it could be a similar issue. Just wondering, which SATA ports are you plugging the hard disk and SSD into? Did you try moving the hard disk to another SATA port?

Ok so that rules SATA port out. How old is the hard disk by the way? Try running Crystaldiskinfo to check the health. And also Crystaldiskmark to run some read/write tests. These are normally just synthetic tests, but it should still give an idea what's the read/write speeds are.

Also make sure the drive caching are enabled, https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/21904-e...en%20to%20later. This only make sure the copy/write performance on particular hdd are improved, this is also default option on Windows 10, im not sure on older OS.

Hi guys, to update that I was trying to reshuffle the port and do some cleaning. After that I plugged back my PSU and press power button, the fans spin for 1 second then the whole PC can't boot up. No power at all... Only a small light of "SB light" is turn on
1) change CMOS battery- not working 2) unplugged all thing except, the 24pin and 8 pin( I think) to mobo for power- not working 3) repeat step 2 with old PSU with same wattage- same thing fan just spin like less than 1 second but won't boot
Is this mobo failure? 😨😨😨

hi guys, just to update the mobo spoiled and i bought a new setup. Used the same SDD and HDD on new mobo are all ok now, speed are 190MBps. I suppose my old mobo is almost kaput that time when my HDD was slow.
