Hi all,
I am gathering data and building tool to (1) get price targets of research reports and (2) compare the price targets to the actual price of the stock 1,3,6,12 months later.
My question is, are there any service/data providers in the market that keeps track of predicted vs actual price targets?
Disclaimer: I am pursuing this project for learning purposes and I don't intend to trade based on the findings.

A Bloomberg terminal keeps track of exactly what you are looking for but it will set you back a cool USD 2,000 monthly. Aside from that, I am not aware of any such service provider in the market.

Instead of focusing on the target price, focus on how they derive the target price. So say you have this stock called Superman. The target price is based on for example 30x PE based on fy21 estimate eps of 40 sen, ie rm12.00. Now in the future when Superman reports its actual eps for fy21, compare how accurate they forecast those eps.... or see how wildly off their forecasted eps....

TP is as good as forecasting 4d, damacai, toto. Analyst almost always move with market sentiment and ahead/higher of current market price trend.

Target price really is an art, in my opinion.
Best part is that TP change any time when the research house want - so really is an ongoing moving target.

Most analyst target price is nothing more than a dart throw. Highly unreliable.

Agreed, research reports should never be used for target price but just to glean insights from the analyst's industry research and interaction with the company's upper management. Sometimes I suspect they are pressured to produce TP just because it is convention to do so. This post has been edited by Havoc Knightmare: Jul 12 2020, 11:30 AM
