QUOTE(pretty23 @ Mar 1 2021, 04:31 PM) heavy disaster counterfeit products found in entry and medium level of Shimano products. Some time saw those buyer who buy counterfeit / fake product still happy and give 5 stars product review. I really salute them. When I was looking at the pedals, I noticed it was pretty cheap(not dirt cheap)... I also see ppl give like 5 star rating... unless I saw the last one posted 1 star... the comments were either deleted or edited by seller but the last picture had that buyer with a middle finger in front of the product... so I googled and found out everyone got duped... Lol I guess those got tricked either fairly new or not a detail/technical people... This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Mar 1 2021, 04:50 PM

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Mar 1 2021, 05:07 PM) That's true. They either fairly new or not a detail/technical people. Example : So obvious these products are fake but buyer's reviews are 5 stars. The price is not even cheaper than original OEM price. LOL One might be tipped off how badly made... but others, well... like I said... oblivious...

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Mar 18 2021, 10:06 AM) got 1 advise for newbie. If you buy complete bike even some famous brand please lube the BB and headset with water resistance grease. If your bike is 2 pieces crankset then you need pull out the rubber sealing of that bearing and put water resistance grease on that. If too late do this, then the BB will gg. Wait... what? Isn't the seals on those sealed cartridge bearing meant to keep dirt and water out?

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Mar 18 2021, 10:31 AM) don't laugh. We should prevent this happen. Don't worry. I find example DIY. Well... i dun go crossing rivers or swimming in the pond so mine shud be ok... just as long as your BB isn't submerging in water... if it's rain, you won't have to worry abt it... QUOTE(pretty23 @ Mar 18 2021, 11:09 AM) don't worry. It also apply to those rider who always wash their bike. Actually BB is not expensive part either and if your DIY skill is pro then can even take out the bearing to replace. Advise is advise, listen or not is up to the person. Most important is good luck have fun. Only to those who jet wash their bikes and love to spray near there... normal flowing water is ok... I wash my bike often enuff when I need to. You need the tools if you are to remove and service the bearings... I myself can only remove the crankset but not the BB due to the lack of tools. And yes, important to have fun either way

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Apr 4 2021, 06:07 PM) hmm... sound interesting. 11 and 12 speeds not compatible to each other. most cheap 11 speeds Deore M5100 series (RD + Cassette + right shifter + chain + crankset) almost around Rm700. But you still need to change your rear hub. And if you want deore brake set then need add more RM4xx~6xx depend on 2 piston or 4 piston. Looking at the pic... I think better to get a preloved rear wheelset(or better both) rather than changing the rear hubs... less hassle plus probably cheaper? And on top of that... judging by the type of mtb and tourney groupset... you will need to change the BB as well. This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Apr 5 2021, 12:14 AM

QUOTE(jusbella @ Apr 5 2021, 12:19 AM) Were thinking to get full set like this https://shopee.com.my/product/1156231/18177...45-1617553113.9Not sure whether it's compatible or not. XTR is kinda overkill for your kinda of bike(Deore is already fine)... as I mentioned b4, my concerned is the rear wheelset and it's hub and the BB... I myself not good at identifying the BB shell size so I suggest to bring it to a bike shop who can id it for you b4 you make your purchase. As for the rear wheelset... most Tourney spec-ed bikes tend to come with flywheel cassette instead of a freehub and to make more matter worse, the type of spokes that comes with your wheelset makes it harder(or maybe impossible) to just switch the hubs... I won't go to far nor worry about 11sp or 12sp compatibility as most flywheel cassette type wheelset won't make it past 8sp or 9sp.

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Apr 5 2021, 11:25 AM) one more thing you need to alert. 9000 series XTR hub non of them are 9mm/10mm quick release. If you wish to use it then you need to use adapter convert it into QR to fit your bike frame. Sounds like quite a lot of money spent on this mtb... why not just straight get a trail worthy bike with decent groupset?

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Apr 5 2021, 11:33 AM) LOL.. full XTR group set for full suspension MTB complete branded bike non of them less than RM13k. I saw his MTB is full suspension foldable bike so I guess if he want to buy new bike also will aim full sus. That one is really costly. Lucky the hub converter is cheap. Rm20 can settle. LOL I've googled the bike based on the wheelset he has and I dun think that bike is made for the trails. Plus the rear wheel is a bolt for freewheel cassette and I doubt you could just swap the hubs easily or even possible without individual spokes to a freehub.

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Apr 5 2021, 11:46 AM) seldom look into foldable frame. Regarding the hub got too many solution to adapt. So it is not an issue for that. Just rim issue need more concern only. Based on this bike, it's gonna be an issue for the frame for the trails. Taman ride is still ok. Well, you said it yourself... rim issue which rolls down to the hub adaptability... like I said, if it's normal spokes, it's still ok but those types... I'm guessing the hub system is part of the wheelset... so, like I said b4... ditch the wheelsets and get a decent pre-loved.

QUOTE(techjunkie @ Aug 23 2021, 11:19 AM) I was changing those non foldable ones, which explains why it was so difficult to put it back on - lesson learnt. Since I broke those plastic levers, i used a few stainless steel spoons using the handle and managed to get the tyre back on, not after bending the spoons to 90 degrees and tearing the inner tube in the process I've no issue changing tyres on MTB as opposed to RB. Me still using few ringgits tyre levers... It all depends on how much practice you get and how hard are the beads on the tyre.

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Aug 27 2021, 04:03 PM) Hi , I'm New here. Just want to seek advice, I have this 26" bike , single speed . And it comes with stock all terrain tyres (like a 4WD kind of tyres) . I find it difficult to ride even on a very gentle slope. Not even going uphill. Akin like putting 5th gear (on a car) at slow speed and trying to accelerate . Any suggestion to improve it? I am just planning to ride onroad , around the housing area. Which one should I change? the rear gears or the tyres? Thanks Adding a rear derailleur will do the trick but you gotta change the rear wheel too and the chains and the crankset... Heck! Change the whole bike.
