Do you guys/girls mind of buying those shimano spare parts which country origin made in indonesia / china instead of made in japan / malaysia?

This happen a lot entry / mid level groupset. Those highend groupset still made in japan.

Especially those old bike which use 9 speeds SLX XT XTR people.
*
I haven't seen shimano parts made in indonesia or china yet. So far my old shimano XT and XTR parts still stamped made in Japan...except my SPD paddle thats says made in Malaysia. However if it was made in indonesia or china i would still buy it. Heck my high end SPD shoes is made in China, lol. biggrin.gif

guys, possible to recommend mtb below rm2k? looking at the CAMP mdoels. are those good brands?
*
So far its a good intermediate bike, they have improve a lot. I recommend you save up extra +$500 and get a good grade CAMP models like this one: https://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/518140/...ed-hubs-airfork

Oh btw this one fits nicely with your budget and it has great components on CAMP brand under rm$2000!...has Shimano SLX components

Thanks for the reply. I see you mention the slx components. I can see CAMP has the Hydes 9.2 with Shimano SLX M7100 which is better right?. How does this compare to the Giant ATX Elite 1?
*
Giant ATX Elite 1 looks very low end since it uses lower tier non-performance parts. Geometry doesn't looks aggressive for serious MTB....looks commuter style. Plus you're paying a lot for branded label.

QUOTE(pretty23 @ Jul 22 2020, 09:12 AM)
Just curious because I already saw people sell it. Like RT20 RT30 RT54 RT56 and some tourney TZ /sis, altus, acera and alivio groupset.
*
Used to own Altus, Acera and Alivio groupset, they are actually really perform well too regardless where it was made.

As a rider need to wear skin tight ke?

Thanks god I only like MTB.
*
No need bro, just wear casual. I ride my road bike with button redneck office shirt and mountain bike loose baggy pants everyday to commute to work. Felt casual enough to tour around town and many places and blend nicely with common town peoples. Still manage to cut-off few roadies along the road while speeding. Casual with slightly loose fitting like freerider MTB is nice because malaysian hot weather allow air to flow through our clothing and cool us down. After decades of riding and racing with my national team i felt stupid riding on lycras and thighs because of skin tightness and sticky stuff, i've donated my tight clothings to my road buddies. Here's how i looked like now. rclxm9.gif

Last weekend my adventure in Mountain biking was climbing at 〽️ 215m of elevation. Had to stop and push a couple of times upwards . Some stretch with steep ascent. Old fag, weak legs. Very exhausting. Glad the legs and stamina are there to provide me the push. Next trip, Will go easy and less challenging route.
*
What gearing combination range you use to climb?

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Jul 23 2020, 01:44 PM)
Good that you wear mask even riding.  rclxms.gif  Last May 2020, MCO lifted I come out from my cave, I ride without mask because I use to think I cannot breath.

Nowadays I insaf already, wear mask already. It is actually not so bad with the right mask.
*
Thanks, glad i did wear because i notice some motorist keep constantly spitting out of the car windows and even motorcycle rider. Last week another motor dude keep spitting saliva all over places down the road as if he was having flu or something, i was at the back cycling and have to change lane to avoid any of those flying particles. Thanks to my mask and full protected glasses...quickly go home taking bath and clean my bike.
Its actually easy to breath when using dedicated mask for cycling, find a PITE Mask with side port vented hole which allow a good air circulation going in.

My chainrings are 42t-32t-24t
cassettes 11t-40t

For the steepest ascend i used Front 24t/Rear 40t to climb (pedaling cadence are the highest, and to maintain climbing & forward)
If the gradient was decreasing a little i would shift down to 36t Rear maintaining at triple chainring to gain some speed.

Me just a noobie on mountain biking.
My MTB tyres are slick type. (because all the while I just cycle on flat tarmac/asphalt)
Just recently, I got cat-curiosity to try hill biking for a change.
I think I m the only person going up/down hill using slick tyres.

Do you think its dangerous or hazardous for downhill using slick tyres?
The hills trails which I'm on by the way is mostly concrete cement type but some parts the cemented road are cracked/broken/ chip away. (by nature & motorbikes, etc)
Nevertheless, I can say some section are well maintained or newly paved concrete cement.
And Some areas only exposed soil or unpaved.
Do you think could skid when travelling down? ( i'm worried if rains or wet after rain)
Do you think by saddle down and lower the tyre pressure when down hill be lot safer?

These are Only my 3rd trip.
On the 1st trip (est.160m elevation), I rode RB (yes, on RB I can go up, with gearing of 52/36 with 11t-34t) & my son rode the MTB, but we didnt go as far & high as the 3rd trip.
I scared to descend (bola kecut) on 1st trip which I push bike all way downhill. sweat.gif
2nd trip (est.185m elevation) I went solo.
3rd trip,I went solo. I made two big climbs, firstly I climbed to 217m which left me breathless, panting & feet down to push bike then I descended a bit and climb another part of the hill at 185m which I was able to cope)

Hope to do more rides up hill and safely.
Welcome to give me useful heads-up pointers & advises.
*
Nice! 40t x 24t has a good climbing gearing range. My Giant trance has only at 11-36t rear and 40-23-22t front. Depends on the slick tire threads and compound type, yes saddle down works to lower the center gravity. Like Schwable tire brand are grippy on slicks but i would reduce the air in the tube for more grip but my friend very daring on slicks during downhills but definitely will skids during rain or mossy surface. If you're intended to ride downhills on slick make sure reduce the air on the tire to get extra grip surface or make sure the suspension pressure are put to soft supple enough to avoid to much rebound on the tires when it hit the rocks or rough terrains which results of loosing grip. But definitely do not lock up the brakes.

I am having a deore M6000 mix groupset. The cassette is sunshine and crankset is Prowheel Zephr.

Do you think it is better if i change to deore crankset? Not too sure if it is consider upgrade as Prowheel i believe utilised hollow bb too.
*
Well it depends if you like it and trying to save weight. However changing crank because of the chainring tooth count and also crank arm length contribute the most factor in overall performance. Like in my case i realized my expensive SHIMANO XT FC-M770 crankset doesn't suit best for my pedalling perfomance because the marketted default 'standard' crank length 170mm is too long for my leg. So i changed it with heavy classic square tappered BB crankset imported imported from UK 'THORN' crankset that has shorter crank length of 155mm. The result my pedalling went super smooth, effortless and no more tiring. I can finally spin faster. I used back my XT FC-770 chainring bolt back to my new yet classic crank arm. Hence said sometimes news tech component doesn't mean it will improve riding comfort and performance.

Thanks for the advice & tips 😀👍😀
I'll change the shocks setting from rabbit 🐇 to tortoise🐢
My MTB is on maxxis detonator silkworm 27.5 x1.50 tyre.
And my RB is on Schwalbe tyre.
*
Wow thats nice beautiful view vhs1! That was worthy hill to climb! cool2.gif Oh yes make sure to tune/pump your suspension according to your weight. To soft or too slow will cause your ride to be bouncy and wasted pedalling energy.

haha.. this one I don't have.

Usually I take off the chain and put into 300ml petrol by using the half cut engine oil bottle. The cassette I use old tooth brush mix with petrol to rub it.

The used petrol I will mix it with used engine oil and give to foreman by throw into used oil collector tank.

Last time heard you change from outer BB to square type BB, what brand BB you use? got affected the original chain line or not ? How the feel ? I really lack of this knowledge.
*
I changed to SHIMANO UN-55 BB square taper with 110mm length fits my original chain line nicely.

your new crankset is listed 110mm to fit the chainline? Else how to know the BB length if convert from 2 pieces crankset to 3 pieces crankset?
*
Just measure your frame BB mounting width and manually check your default chain line on 2x chainring.

guys, it has been very long, more than 10 years since i ride bicycle, and recently i want to get a casual usage mountain bike for myself and my gf to go strolling near my house...
google around found one shop selling daytona brand mountain bike, i dont look for fancy feature like must be very light or folding or anything, simply a mountain bike that can withstand max 120kg of weight..

is this brand good?
or got any better suggestions for newbie on mountain bike?

last time i rode a mountain bike is 15 years ago...
*
I've never heard of Daytona brand mtb, but nowadays any MTB models is good enough for casual ride but the only differences the price hike for normal mtb bike is staggering. I still ride my 15 year old MTB, works great! bruce.gif

Your handle bar is so narrow.

Comfy?
*
Its 26'er standard size handle bar width that match rider shoulder length. Ritchey WCS carbon. No need longer handle bar to push small 26er lightweight wheel for leverage. That's why 27er and 29er mtb need longer handle bar to pull the steering for leverage. smile.gif
Yup super comfy on my shoulderand arm! the steering reach is perfect for small rider.

Yeah, Maxxis/Schwable 26 tire is like non-existense in bike shops now.
So hard to find.

Don't worry 26" tire still a lot in the market since its a popular size for commuter bike, i just recently purchased tubeless tire replacement for my 26" and fork seal kit for for 26" size Rock Shox Revelation. Got me Schwable Magic Mary recently at local bike shop.

Back in the 90s, I once used an oval chainring crankset by Shimano, 200gs.
they call it the biopace

I hated it.

user posted image
*
I used to owned a SHIMANO EXAGE - BIOPACE crank too in 1995 put on LERUN MOUNTI mtb bike. Its only works efficient on granny gear during hill climb but weird feeling like 'peaky' during cadence on pedal stroke since the chainring shapes more like 'bashed' oval than perfect oval shape. That silver Shimano crank arm was made from soft magnesium.
