still remembering the excitement of buying Doom 3 the day it came out some few years back

well,the original size of the game should be ~100gb,ultra-compressed to only ~25gb just to accommodate console gamers... AFAIK, iD always make PC gamers its first priority rather than console gamers...

wait,do Doom/Wolfenstein got their unique logo as well? i remember lots of unique switches in Doom,but not Wolfenstein (apart from push-em-up walls & elevator exits)

i do admit i also got the same slow-loading textures.probably so because i got set 1920*1080 resolution.
but my vid option screen got the 'GPU Transcode' (default:Disabled..i turned that one on)

actually,the game seems to struggle on slow-performing hard disks.
as i straddle along the Wastelands on any vehicle,i can see the HDD light on the casing blinking furiously. the only other time i watched this thing happen is when i tried to play some 1080p that i just rendered from Adobe After Effects, which tend to have 5-6MB/sec read bitrate.

well,not that i have those slow-performing HDD,but probably those with SSD can get better performance playing this game.

well,u may try..i haven't tried playing the game at lower resolution i.e. 1280*720
but the game WILL be capped at 60fps at any resolution,so if the resolution u pick won't be too buggt,i suggest u stick with it.

i'd go for 1920*1080 bcos i like to take screenies while playing

yes,all 3 discs will be used. since not all ppl can afford blu-ray drives,they got no choice but to distribute the game using 3 dual-layer dvd (each at 8.5gb)
btw,word of advise to those who buy retail: if u see the package got include the Sewers DLC, key-in that as well BEFORE u play the game
or u may spend extra time downloading more stuffs...

nah...if u soldier on (not completing side quests,not stopping by to enjoy scenery,kill baddies fast enough etc etc), u can finish the game in less than 10hours

around 300-400 extra mb to download,if i recall correctly

considering i got a mid-level nvidia gpu with 1gb vram,i'll post my tweaks here as well as some screenies

ok.tested on my rig.
didn't noticed any significant changes,particularly indoor texture.
outdoor texture,there might be slight improvement.but i didn't go for 8xAA.had to null the AA setting,cause i noticed some lag when dealing with characters.

i'll lay the game to rest a bit,after more tweaking environment has been discovered. time to Portal for now...

quickly checked MSI Afterburner for GPU temp,goes to 63c (similar to folding environment)
full-blast the fan on the GPU 70%
a bit noisy,but didnt care as the sound blaring from my speaker louder than the fan noise
re-load RAGE,play again
0x1e BSOD,smell something crisp from casing
quickly restart,retrace that crispy smell
smell gone,restarted,google for 0x1e for win7 64bit
possible issue:video driver error
rollback to stable driver,discarding beta driver
back on stable driver,tested on Portal 2 full graphics,all is normal
set reminder to self:next time,go for 1280*720 if wanna see all eye-candies..
