Well then there's the environmental cost; the cost of manufacturing and producing the panels. Mining the materials, transport, production, the factory, human labour etc etc all factor in. Of course with non-renewables also got these to factor in, but if you're switching because of environment, this should be considered. If you can't be bothered to calculate the ROI from the energy price standpoint, for sure as hell you're not gonna factor in the environmental cost of switching to solar panels (and how long before it pays for itself). So to say switching because environment but can't even be bothered to think about ROI, is just load of crap.
