1000km service at Section 13 for my Persona H-Line last month, 2 days later rear tail light on the left busted.

Sent in to fix the tail light next day, they told me to leave the car there for an ENTIRE DAY. Silly isn't it?

Close to 5000km now, time to get it fixed alongside with my 2nd service

I also dislike them. If not because i-care require me to go to SC for a savvy jerk problem...

They blame on my driving behaviour. I can accept other blame that but they irritate me when they said "I need to warm up my car for at least 10mins"

Somemore said "We do not like when you to dealer for service but come to us for problem."

I liked proton, but this ppl's attitude really piss me off. I'll surely send a verbal complaint to i-care later! mad.gif

DONKEYS!

How can they say that you need to warm up your car for 10 minutes? This is downright silly! I mean, if I were to bring my 17 year old Saga there yes that'd be true cause I do warm up my old Saga for 10 minutes before driving (It's a carburator so we all gotta warm it up first yeh?). Bad service!

Verbal complaint? I'd suggest a written one actually, as they say 'left ear in right ear out'

hi people. this is an experience from a proton owner of 7.

we had 7 experience with different proton cars that we own no less then a year. currently we own 5 proton cars. we had another 2 previously but it is sold. overall, we already use 3 V6 (2 yr, 6 yr and 7 yr), 1 iswara (9 yr), 1 wira (8 yr), 1 neo (2 yr) and 1 satria (1yr). dont ask me how i can afford and why need that many cars. but i just want to tell my experience and problem i had with it, and i like u guys to hear from a genuine proton user who had used it for a very long time from different model (except for the 3 v6).

i am NOT a proton salesman, or work with proton before. i am also not a car dealer or a proton fanatics. my full time profession is system administrator. i am here to share my wonderful and the not so wonderful experience with proton and comparison with other cars which i owned before.

below is my rating on my CURRENTLY owned proton. 1 to 10, 10 being the best.

1) two perdana V6. registered 2001, and another 2002. mil. 110k and 160k respectively. we abused the 2002 V6 now instead of the 2001. somehow, we feel the 2002 v6 is better. the former is sold and buyer confirm once loan approved somewhere next week. i am keeping the latter V6 for LIFE! biggrin.gif . but overall perdana V6 performance:-

comfort - 7.
looks - 6
driving around in town - 3
driving at highway - 7
driving in an abusive way - 3
problem cause? - hmm. why all the lights in the compartment in all my v6 burned?
maintenance - average.
petrol - mahal
speed - so so.
pick up - slow
other comment - automatic transmission is jumpy.
overall - 5

2) Wira sedan 1.8(a) DOHC 16v. registered 2000. its NOT the one with tiang gol at the back. mil 140k. i have a perfect service record and maintenance on this guy which i keep and update since it roled out from shah alam. i will update my servicing, parts and maintenance cost later here when i get home.

comfort - 6.
looks - 4
driving around in town - 5
driving at highway - 7
driving in an abusive way - 6
problem cause? - many, some are tolerable, some makes me sick. altenator problem, broken radiator, failed air cond system, jammed valved, overheating, failed water pump, failed signal system, failed battery. failed central locking system, cracked front window, all in 8 years.
maintenance - ouch!
petrol - average
speed - 140hp. not bad huh.
pick up - very good. nice torque.
other comment - nice overall car except when problems occur. practical, since it is a sedan, and also got power and give u a nice low rpm at 130km/h.
overall - even though got many problems, i prefer this car way more then the V6 or neo. overall 6.

3) satria neo 1.6(a). this one bought 2 years ago if not mistaken. milage 17k.

comfort - 3.
looks - 6
driving around in town - 5
driving at highway - 7
driving in an abusive way - 7. cilok with this car really nice worrr. can take sharp corner at high speed nicely.
problem cause? - stupid aircon knob suddenly aircorn blow at max power when it is turn off. took 6 mth for ths SC to fix the stuff.
maintenance - average.
petrol - average
speed - this campro engine is slower then my wira 1.8. maybe the CPS version is better
pick up - same like wira.
other comment - i am 5'11. the seat is too small for me. like bucket seat. i hate driving this car.
overall - 4, unless when u want to abuse. then i give it a 7.

4) proton satria 1.5(a). mil 44k. bought it second hand 1 year ago. 1st owner bought it in 2004.

comfort - 7. (suprise eh)
looks - 4
driving around in town - 7
driving at highway - 3
driving in an abusive way - 8. cilok with this feels better then the neo.
problem cause? - faulty indicator on the temprature, central locking is acting in a funny way.
maintenance - dirt cheap.
petrol - cheap
speed - sucky like hell, since it is a 1.5a, its a noisy engine.
pick up - like turtle.
other comment - i like this car better then the others now. if i were to drive around town, i will definetely choose this car over others since it is small. parking easy maaa.
overall - 6

i also owned an AUDI A4 1.8T (just bought) and just 4 month ago sold my subaru forester 4wd turbo. just telling so u guys dont think i am a proton freak. biggrin.gif . the audi is a baby. all other cars now sleep outside. the subaru forester is an awesome car. but it had its fair share of other problems like power window, suddenly refuse to start, etc.

previously i owned an iswara 1.5a bought it in 1990 and sold 9 years later. we had a good 150k on it. i had a fair experience on a kancil 850a (2 years) and a honda accord which i used for 11 years and did a nice 220k milage. not to offend the perodua fans out here but, the kancil 850(a) is shitty!

proton is OK. it has his share of maki hamun from me but many times it is also life saver. the problem with proton is also a problem with other cars. for example, i had a power window problem with the wira ONCE, but NOT with the other proton which i owned. i had to change the whole bloody power window system, but then again, i changed it after i abused the car for 7 years. i also had similar window problem with the subaru forester. one day while driving the subaru, while approaching the LDP tol, i push the power window button, but the window didnt go down, but i smell something burn.

my problems comes mostly with the wira, but i also had similar problems with my honda and subaru as well. i especially had problems with the car when it already did 3 years and above. but later on when i see that what problem i had with my proton also occur with my other japanase cars, i conclude that its not actually a problem, but its part and parcel of a car maintenance. the problem i had with the wira also i face with my honda accord. once i maintain, repair and changed the system, the problem when away, and the car works just fine. i am expecting the V6, the neo and satria to act the same way once it hit 5 to 8 years.

now wait and see what will happen with my audi in 5 years. many already say this baby also got gearbox problem. but since i just had this car, we have to wait and see.

all in all, i will never stop from buying proton. (or audi, heh).

My waja got a couple problem here

1st, the speaker on the left side (passenger side) got busted. I tried to adjust the balance to all left, but no sound, also tried to put the volume higher, no avail

2nd, 1 of my door couldn't open at all!!! from inside out also cannot open that bloody door

so, for the speaker, should i repair it? i'm a radio fan, i listen musics all the time in my car

and about the door, how much does it usually cost to repair? only 1 side occurs

for the speaker, i thk u better change new set. if still got warranty go get the claim

for the door, its easy... jz ur cable broke nia... if u can DIY, go to spare parts shop and buy 1 if they sell only the single broken cable u need, but 1st u need to know which cable broke... or u can go to Proton SC if u dun noe any one can repair it. but as i noe it com wit the power window set, then it be RM 200++...

As tplcaik mentioned, goto your friendly accessories or workshop and ask for the non-original power window module with metal plate/bracket instead of the original black plastic one. It also comes with the tried & tested, reliable old-school scissors-type arm instead of Waja's "hi-tech" pulley & cable system.

My colleague's Waja 1.6 (A) 4G18P, which is around 6 yrs old, has this problem of the ICE knobs gone haywire- u can turn the knob in 1 direction to adjust the volume or bass/treble/balance, but the volume bass etc. can go up or down as they like. So now only the volume buttons on the steering can function properly. Anyone else experienced this? Is it due to it being frequently parked under the hot hot sun?

my waja cps air con compessor got leaking gas on friday so i called up and went to SC on saturday early morning 8am, due to the technician came on 930am so i wait. but after that they checked and told me the problem are not able to fix on that day. and told me that after raya only can be fix because they do not have any stock available and dealer or supplier is not accepting any order.

the SC i went is Eon service center locate at sg besi which they so call Headquater for Eon but yet they don't have stock too.

i ask them any other place in klang valley got stock and he say none, the only place got stock is ipoh side. << i feel this is hilarious

i been wondering is the part so fast selling or they dont keep any stock even so called HQ?.

this is the second time i went there , first time was there is some buzzing sound came from dashboard and request to put my car for 3 day. and now second times he ask me to put it for a week till stock arrive..

this is really ridiculous

QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ Aug 14 2008, 10:12 PM)
alrite..now i wanna add mine..driving 1.6 satria auto..but changed to manual already..use this car since 2003..

so far here's the prob when it is still auto:2003-2006

1. Throttle body..the most common one..up until now, i've changed like 3 times already. n one costing like Rm6++!
2. Air -cond compressor...change two times already...if u don't change, ur engine noise will prone to have a very noisy squeek sound.damn irritating!
3. Leaking from beneath my engine...due to what? unknown. until now got.
4. Drive shaft almost broke - due to hard-driving and cornering ( i'm do touge.)
5. Engine distributor kong - i think this is because i drive like hell for a long period of time.
6. spark plug cable change twice... n it cost rm2++ one!

2006- now. ( gearbox auto kong due to hard riving too. hampeh! )

7. radiator almost kong- already sent to flush it..but car temp seems to go high if i drive above 140km/h. will be change soon...damn..how much will this cost??
absober ,spring, headlights, backlights, light from the spoiler, plate number lights have been changed for may times. except my Sportlight. the only one that stays in good condition.

so my conclusion here is....because proton can derive more power than perodua...its tempting. so, i strongly agree that all the broken parts or breakdown that relates to the drivetrain or engine are due to the way we drive... i myself experience this. maybe if we drive carefully..."bwk mcm org tua" people say..then ur proton car will survive longer n lasts longer....

what u expect? Proton have been using a cheap material...n its material will break if we drive the car too hard. sum even drive their wira all the way 160km/h above on the highway. seriously...i tink thats the main cause..but ofcoz, most of us still unaware of it...since evyone nowdays drive like hell. even after minyak naik. look at city n vios owner. how fast they go at the highway. haha! not trying to bash them, but its the truth...

so all im saying is...maybe its the way we drive...well, the problems such as power windows, door handle n so on are exceptional..that one is jaz stupid for proton..damn them. haha!
*
Hii there...i'ved xperianced changing the radiator for satria...of my frenz..he got low budget,so we go to chop shop and found 1 used radiator taken out from mitsubishi engine, then we DIY it at home, clean it with water first before assemble, then refill with coolant, since now it has been 2 1/2 years after changed it,n still in good running conditions, maybe its just luck for us.So total cost is radiator Rm 80, coolant Rm5 = total rm85. hope this will help ..thx.
