No, both are still totally separate entity

Even if the merger did go through, Digi will be the surviving company
*
Iirc from presscon, Celcom will be the one gaining management control.

I recently changed my Family Supplementary 40 to become full fledged primary Postpaid 40.

You can see that there is additional 10GB on top of the plan's original 10GB. that additional is current promotion for signing up Postpaid 40. And it seems like I am firstly currently drawing quota from that.

The 10GB+10GB are visible right from signing up.

On same day, I also accepted 5GB/mth offered via MyDigi app, in exchange of being contracted for 12mth.

Right when I want to confirm that 5GB-for-contract, I was surprised to find a 4th quota of additional 5GB!

Now I am confused - but grateful anyway - which one is the 5GB-for-contract (probably the bottom) and which is the same one as your mom's.

edit: 5GB-for-contract is still visible.

My mother phone received this sms:

Stay with Digi to enjoy more perks! You’re rewarded with FREE extra 5GB High-Speed Internet for 12 months that has automatically granted to you. T&Cs apply.

Successfully Activated - R-MONTHLY 5GB-12MTH Non Share

So digi suddenly auto give this without her request? after 12 month will they start charge extra fee?
Don't know where can find the T&C apply.

The telco always like this, when have new offers, they won't auto upgrade for old/existing users. If you dont ask, then you will stay at those lousy/overpriced plan forever. Damn
*
Telco shouldn't do that.

Once upon a time, when prepaid rateplans were in their infancy in Malaysia, Celcom did this by force to their prepaid customers, with every later iteration of the rateplan getting worse deal than the ones before.

What you think is a great deal, might not be true for another person.
If you feel you need to change, then do the change on your own.

I have recently ported to Digi from Maxis and two of my phones shows the same issue (RED DOT on Phone/Voicemail icon). Both are iPhones while Android phones are ok. Anyone has any solutions? Called Digi but they are helpless! I regretted porting to Digi...
*
I did not experience such issue, but I've googled for this

"iphone red voicemail not disappearing".

there are steps involved, you might as well you read them yourself.

basically, most are variants of "you needing to dial for first time in order to set up voicemail first"; because iphone apparently was not able to access voicemail to check count and then to clear the dot.

2nd opinion:
Settings > Phone > Change Voicemail Password
(but my Phone app does not display the Change Voicemail Password option...)

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting iphone 14 for both my wife n me via Digi phonefreedom 365. I'm currently on the old Digi Postpaid Family 150 plan. I have 2 question here...
*
I think you need to walk-in.
Maybe you should prioritise visiting Digi Centre over authorised retailer;

(1) Different payment methods each have different upfront amount required.

(2) I think, like Maxis, Digi also check your credit eligibility. Maybe allowed 0, maybe allowed 1, maybe allowed 2 devices.

(3) Maxis have cooldown period of 3 months before allowing you to apply for another device. If Digi allow you to take 2, be clear if it's at same time or one after another cooldown period.

(4) Online offer not necessarily available for walk-in. I personally utilised Digi's selective voucher code for zero upfront that is only available through online store.

I've been on Digi Best Prepaid v4 for years.

I received this,
"We are converting you to a newer plan, Digi Prepaid Best 2017 starting xxx/9/22."

Are they phasing out the v4 or is this a trickery?
*
Next time post the number that you received it from as well.
So many post content of SMS but never bothered with the number that sent it. The number is also an important piece of clue.

Can anyone help confirm, eSim transfer to new phone still requires walk-in to Digi Centre?
*
iOS 16 work-in-progress to make it possible to move eSIM between iDevices that support eSIM.

the QR code is actually a pointer and key to a web resource where your device downloads the specific eSIM profile.

you only have 1 chance to scan the QR then immediately download the profile and install properly. once you downloaded the profile from server, it's immediately removed to prevent somebody else or you yourself from downloading it again into additional devices.

source: my own installing 4 eSIMs, which, the 3rd was gatal-gatal scan-installed-delete-scan-again and 4th was after paying to re-issue replacement.

receive SMS while roaming is free.

any call towards you while roaming is charged IDD
(Malaysia->roaming network), though i am very reluctant to believe it is not charged if you didn't pick up the call. so you are right that it might exhaust your bundled minutes.

if voicemail box receives inbound call to you, that is considered "picked up".

"Not many are aware of this but turns out that all telcos do charge for call roaming if an incoming call is directed to voicemail when you’re using your mobile line outside of Malaysia. This is practised not just by Maxis but also Celcom, Digi and U Mobile. According to U Mobile, users will see two charges in their postpaid bill if a call is redirected to Voicemail while roaming. The first charge is for receiving a call in a foreign country (IDD from Malaysia to the foreign country) and the second charge is for forwarding the call to the voicemail in Malaysia (outgoing call from the foreign country to Malaysia)."

Iphone.
I walk-in to the store this morning, the officer confirmed must walk in for personal verification before they are allowed to issue the 1-time-validity QR. they need to snap my IC using the same tablet that generated the QR. Its their system process flow.

Head-to-tail process took less than 5 minutes. The travel time and expenses incurred simply dont justify this kind of backward practices.
*
Then, you rather someone else generate and claim the QR on your behalf? SIM cards by now are invariably interchangeable as a representative of our own identity, so there is no sweat with having the telco being extra careful for it to not fall into wrong hands... no?

It's tedious, it is cumbersome, but you don't want to be victim of SIM swap social engineering. Is it a myth? https://www.maybank2u.com.my/maybank2u/mala...ement_scam.page?

why not do KYC style like when buying new SIM online? snap IC and confirm with selfie?
*
If do it in presence of staff, and that staff can only do from his/her terminal in current login session, there is paper trail accountability and responsibility on the staff to make sure you are who you claim to be.

If KYC, it's automated and depend on how high the verification standard that the administrator wants to and is capable of setting up. What you gonna do when the verification gets made a fool of? Sack the computer? Sack the admin? Who is ultimately responsible in failure of preventing fraud if system fail to recognise a fraudster?

That’s a solid point with supports.
I think some times end users like me will wanted things to be easy, but we dint really know whats going in in the backend (telco, banks, etc).

Nevertheless, i see there are ways to improve this. We can learn from more developed countries like US and Australia, where they dont have to walk in for the eSim migration. There must be smth they have implemented that can minimize risks of frauds.
*
If something work-in-progress as secure as Twitter account and Facebook account and Gmail account still can be hacked whistling.gif what is there to prevent someone from overtaking your telco-related login and make a mess out of it?

SMS-based one-time TAC? like Digi's *{€!~Β₯_>>~,!@/ crappy MyDigi login? I think by now we already established THAT already has work-around.

Booster does not auto renew, need to purchase everytime your plan auto renew
*
the word "booster" means it's in addition to your base subscription quota eg. you already run flat even before the next billing date, so you buy additional. thus it's one-time purchase depending on when subscriber needs to.

in the early days of 4G roaming, people who never enabled data roaming and mobile data were getting billshocked by hefty data roaming charges.
4G LTE is pure data network. As the phones were connecting to foreign 4G networks, the "data" spent negotiating were (mis)categorically charged as mobile data usage as well.

2nd.
Receiving SMS is free.
Receiving calls is charged.
You want to risk a random caller hitting your wallet where it hurts?

Not sure which country you are going.
But last I checked, Digi have 3-days pass instead of daily pass for the country I was checking out for.

Just to expand on the receiving calls part.

Few weeks ago SoyaCincau wrote that calls are charged if you picked up or into voicemail. This is ... wrong.

Based on my own roaming experience (on Maxis, Celcom, Digi) and confirmed as I asked a Maxis Centre salesperson 3 weeks ago, calls are charged to you the moment it is forwarded from Malaysian telco to roaming telco. Whether it ends up ringing, picked up or not, or into voice-mailbox is irrelevant.

General guideline: the rate that is charged depends on what plain IDD rate is applicable as if you are making an IDD call from Malaysia to that roaming country. For the country I was checking out 3 weeks ago, that is RM5.**/min in the event of a scammer calling.

If that’s the case, should I do the following instead?

Switching off the digi sim while I am overseas. When I do actually need to receive otp sms, turn on the sim, switch it off after I am done. That way I wouldn’t be exposed to risk of calls?
*
sounds like a plan. BUT, ...
my uneducated guess: once your SIM registered on a foreign network, your home telco will always redirect to the foreign network even if you switched off. there are many reasons for not being reachable on a network, but that won't stop the network from trying to ring you up in the first place. so until you came back and the SIM re-register itself on home network. so.....

QUOTE(incredibless @ Oct 23 2022, 04:39 PM)
another way is you can use the wifi calling. you can switch on the wifi and connect to the portable wifie device you renting or anywhere. then you can perform your
online banking or transaction those with TAC requirement.
*
i've never used wifi calling while roaming. not yet.
My uneducated theory: but if based on local scene, you still need to enable the SIM. wifi calling is basically instead of making call Voice-over-LTE, you are replacing the LTE path with wifi path. SIM still required to authenticate.
AND, be careful. few weeks back, we had discussed somewhere in digi thread(s) about roaming charges, and it came up that if you use wifi calling, the (LTE) minutes bundled with whatever digi roaming pass you have (or never had) won't be deducted, and you will pay rate as if without roaming pass.

my uneducated guess:
in vowifi mode, the phone became a SIP client connecting to a SIP server back in Malaysia. so it depends on ... firewall and SIP ALG passthrough setting of the wifi network?

That is, if you live inside such laboratory lah.
