Hi

I would like to get some feedback on tiles. I have moved my dining area from near the living hall to just in front of the kitchen. We have extended the kitchen area. So the kitchen and the dining area are basically at the same place, kitchen will come with the counter top and the dining area would just be there plain ( just with a dining table ). This area is kinda enclosed, you would not be able to see it from the living room. There is a small portion of dining only from the living room.

Now, I wanted to try to have different tiles for each part of this area, living room - different tiles, kitchen - different and dining - different.
The contractor is suggesting to have one tiles throughout the house, but my idea is, kitchen will get dirty, if I do have the same polished surface on the kitchen, then when the oil splashes or water drops, it kinda gets slippery with stains. Hence, the idea for different tiles. I just want something new and trendy.

Any feedback on this ? Has anyone done something similar...

My first advice is go with what you like rather than what others telling you. That said depending on your house layout and whether you want your house to look specious or "smaller". Spacious you may want to use same tiles. Different tiles will make the space more cozy/smaller.

Mine I have marbles for living all the way to dry kitchen. This makes my house more spacious. The wet kitchen is porcelain tiles for durability and extra toughness. If you are considering tiles only you should get technical porcelain tiles for all your area. But may be one for kitchen area and another pattern for living area. Try not to have too many for each area as it will look small and "busy"

For cooking area you should consider technical porcelain tiles. Gray or darker is better as white may be less practical for high traffic and oily area.

In the end like I said you should do whatever pleases you
.. within your budget.

You can consider different tone & texture to suit the area.

Mine is different tiles for different areas..
Hall, rooms, wet & dry kitchen, dining..

Contractor suggest one for all because of easier work...
Since it's same type & size... Faster work done.. less headache 😁

Hi guys, base on my kitchen & yard size what size of tiles should I use for? Use same pattern or different to separate the area? Btw between kitchen & yard will have a step down around 80mm.
