FIL passed away in Dec.

All in plus cremation ... about 50k.

If planning in advance, about 30k plus according to agent.

Can I assume your chinese then?

Is it a reccuring cost to be kept there, or a one off payment?

What about burial?

When you are gone, you have no say actually. Depends on the children. Not sure my wish of throwing ashes in the sea will be fulfilled, instead kena lokap.

Anyone knows whats the process for malay?

Last time i remember in old malay neighborhood they have a group of surau people collecting khairat kematian from each house and will handle the body.

How's the process nowadays when you live in highrise/non malay majority area?

1. Call the ambulance / doc.
2. Then what?

If 60 and above passed at home, call the police to verify the death.
If 60 and below at home, call an ambulance.

If in hospital, easier. Can call direct to proceed to the funeral.

Then can contact ur respected agent/undertaker to take over all the necessary, such as which where to held the wake, what ceremony, embalmment, burial or cremation..

Wait for Sijil kematian by doc, permit kubur by polis.

What next depend of religion.

If elderly passed away at home it’s like this ...

1. Call 999 / ambulance and wait for medical officer to confirm death
2. Call funeral parlor and wait for the funeral director to come over
3. Pick casket, funeral picture and funeral package
4. Clean the deceased and put in proper clothing for the deceased
5. Place deceased in casket
6. Inform relatives and friends
7. Start packing the deceased favorite personal belongings

The rest of the funeral procession just follow what the funeral director instructs.

Then along the way, someone will ask you if you want to bury or cremate. An agent will bring you to go see the columbarium / burial spot and discuss pricing.

In between you will need to report and obtain a death certificate.

Depending whether the deceased has any will. If none, family members will choose to clear all bank accounts and safe deposit boxes on the first or second day of the deceased passing to avoid complications from other family members and banks.

My guess is the joint account holder/authorized person doing this will not inform the bank of the death .
Very likely, the bank staff would have guessed something is amissed when all account s are cleard out at the same time.
Just wondering if most bank staff will just process the withdrawals despite this ?

They won’t ask if you’re the legit joint account holder.
