Hi all,
I would need help to know brand that reliable for faucet of kitchen and bathroom applications. There is a lot of china brand in shopee and lazada that i dont know how good it can last. Perhaps some shops also sell china brand.
Please help to share some knowledge and experience of choosing faucet. Thanks.

Whats your budget? If got high budget, go n buyer Grohe jer lar...period. but make sure u ask the shop whether Groher which series is made from where. AFAIK, Grohe in M'sia got 4 series made in Thailand. Others made in Germany.

If budget limited, then u may look into Rubine or Bareno (take the Italy cartridge, dont take China cartridge).

For Italy brand faucet like Paffoni, for me is quite not worth the money lar.

At the end of the day, please make sure your water is clean (i.e. with water filter), or else, what brand u buy will be worthless as the cartridge will easily spoiled. Mind you, 1pcs Grohe cartridge is not cheap. It may cost you 1 whole pcs of China branded faucet.

You can easily find grohe and hansgrohe in Malaysia.

P.s: I don’t have personal experience using those brand. Just recommending based on my reading. But planning to buy those brand for my house soon.

Great choice. Personally i prefer Grohe than Hansgrohe.

Grohe seems more common than hansgrohe which means buying spare parts are easier. So, I might go for grohe.

How do we know which one is made in asian and which is made in germany?
*
Not really. If u go Jalan Ipoh, KL, lot of people supplying Hansgrohe and Grohe. No issue on both brands spare parts.

On the question, either u see why the price is cheaper, then it 80-90% possible is made from Thailand. Or to play safe, just ask the sales guy inside the shop. Happy hunting.

Actually I believe Hansgrohe is more exclusive than Grohe. The Transparent Glass Faucets by Philippe Starck for Hansgrohe is one of the most expensive faucet in the world.

Most Hansgrohe are assembled in Offenburg and Alpharetta facilities in Germany thus I guess you can said made in Germany. But most of their parts are made in China or Taiwan to their specifications.

I have both and Grohe quality varies as lower end models are not as great in finishing and typically they are not made in Germany. Top end Grohe is great. Good about Grohe is that their cartridges are all made in Germany. So while some may be pitted exteriorly the cartridge of the cheap one performs just as well as the high end one.

For Grohe you can look at the box for the origin of the made. You can also usually see that the price will reflect where it is made ... Top ones are Germany. Cheap ones are Thailand. Lastly ask the shop. If the shop can't answer you then I think you should look for another shop. They should know their products better.

BTW. Kohler is not bad too

If u ask me the Transparent thing faucet is kinda marketing gimmick, maybe is just for me. Yeah, both is great product for Grohe and Hansgrohe but is personal preference, i prefer Grohe as i had experience for both products. Hansgrohe cartridge tend to break down earlier compare to Grohe, again, is my experience may not apply for all.

Grohe one thing bad is their finishing as u said. Some of their product is made out of plastic especially the lever. Unlike Hansgrohe made out of brass. But heck, for me i dont mind as long as the cartridge is durable.

Kohler i dont like their 2 steps lever. But is a great product as well and perhaps, not many people carry this product?
AFAIK, Kohler's pipe is the most durable compare to other top brands.

I haven’t been to any physical shop so far, only researching online. After all I am just looking to buy shower mixers and kitchen faucet. The rest of the house I will just use whatever the developer provided until they break down.

BTW, where is this Jalan Ipoh? It has always been mentioned here, but I never actually been there nor I can find it specifically in google map.

Jalan Ipoh = Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah if not mistaken

Check and compare bro. Sometimes Top Idea sales can be cheaper. Plus you can touch touch feel feel. I was looking at a Toto smart toilet bowl and think my ass will be extremely happy ... but then it is just slightly cheaper than a Toyota Yaris!

WTF?!?! So expensive kah?

For faucets, local price vs overseas online price is more or less the same. But for shower mixers, the local price is almost double the oversea’s online price even after shipping and taxes sweat.gif I don’t want to waste the salesperson’s time entertaining me when I don’t plan to buy from them. But i found one shop selling grohe at much cheaper price in Rawang. It’s like almost 30-40% cheaper than Top Idea’s online price. But I wonder what’s the catch hmm.gif
Just a head up, sometimes product in online u saw, doesnt exist in local as i tried before. At the end, bought in Amazon. Lol.

Yeah. PJ also have a lot of shops selling reno supplies from what I read. And the location also seems like easier to park compare to going to KL sweat.gif

Yeah. But price term, sometimes u need to compare to KL, probably in KL cheaper.

Woah, thanks all for such information.
Is there any brand that affordable then Grohe?

How should I know the cartridge is from China?
How about Sorento? JS? zenros? Abagno?
*
Sorento is local company with manufacturing in China.
JS, Zenros, Abagno i nvr heard before. So i cant comment much. U may look into Bareno (if budget higher abit, go with Italy cartridge, if economical then go for China cartridge) or else can look at Rubine brand. AFAIK, Sorento offer 10 years warranty.
