010...

Becoz... Binary coding is defined by zeros and ones... LOL... Without zeros and ones, SkyNet wouldn't exist and cannot take over human...

Without zeros and ones, no telcos; thus no 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 019, and ...

If you are using Tunetalk (I have already ported out very very long ago),
you are able to modify your number to a desired or maybe premium number in the Tunetalk user website (I forgot what its called since last time i changed my number in that site is in 2017)

The oldest prefix is actually 010.

Last time used even before ADAM, Mutiara Telecom(DiGi), Timecell during ATUR450 time when people carry big water tumbler brick phones known as 大哥大(Tai kor tai).

Also this prefix is not only available in Malaysia as premium South Korean mobile numbers also share this prefix.
It is also their oldest mobile prefix which is shared by all their mobile celcos.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_num..._in_South_Korea

Normally if you watch KDramas, you'll noticed that their mobile calls that come in on their phones use 010 prefix.

That is correct. They are grouped as Central Number. 01x-6 is also a Central Number. Meanwhile, 01x-8 is tagged to Sabah and Sarawak.

But since a few years ago, none of the telco sell their numbers according to their geographic tagging anymore. However, they have not removed the geographic tagging of the phone number. You can see that in your Maxis postpaid itemised statement.

I think those youngster during year 2000 understood how premium is 012 prefix number than those youngster at year 2020 because those days we need to spend hundreds on ringgit to get a sim packs but now just only less than RM10 and even get it free when you port out from other telco. But advantage of those days who still hold the number until today is you are the first owner of the number, not recycled number and keep away from the people keep calling asking for the person who owns the number previously.

Anyhow I still love my first number even it is not any special number or VIP number because I am the first person who owns it. Now I have second number which is recycle number and still keep getting calls and sms that looking for the previous owner. Luckily not from ah long, bankers, marketing people etc.

One is less likely to get this kind of spam SMS if you’ve been using the same number for a very long time. Almost all newly signed up numbers are more likely to have this issue as they have been recycled too many times and that happens to number of any prefix.

i think other than prefix, to tell whether ur number is older number or newer, from the number of digits can tell as well. old one is all 7 digits other than prefix while new one is all 8 digits now.

I just realized that my Maxis Fibre backup 4G SIM has the service number with 012 prefix. My friend’s MaxisONE Go WiFi SIM is a 012 number too. Neither SIM can make call though. We didn’t choose the number. They are assigned randomly.

Based on this scenario, there is no basis to the saying that all 012 number is reserved only to Maxis Postpaid now but all subject to availability. Even tablet plan may come with a random 012 number.
