Hi Folks,

Nowadays, there are quite a number of reputable universities offer online MBA, like USM, UNITAR, OUM etc.

Do you think online MBA is a trend now? How do you find the experience of getting an MBA via online mode vs those blended or conventional?

Certainly it requires a lots of discipline and hard work.

*i am currently enrolling in UNITAR MBA online for only 10k! I find the online platform used (Microsoft Team) is very user friendly.

Why not UNITAR? It s cheaper than UCSI with somemore reputation of 1st virtual uni in SEA, has been experienced in conducting online distance learning.

Hi, I am exploring on MBA courses too but personally prefer school with physical classes instead of pure online. Wondering why do you choose UNITAR compared to WOU and OUM or USM? mainly the cost?

The cost yes, and also the reputation of being the first private university in Malaysia as well as first virtual university in SEA with 5 star rating by QS for teaching, employability and online education.

The online platform- Open learning and Microsoft Team is so far user friendly really.

Interesting, will definitely check it out. May I know how they conduct online classes? Is it through recorded lecture? Any schedule live session or presentation?

I am not sure if you also went thru your degree via online learning. If you took your degree via conventional education system where you attended physical classes and interact face2face with lecturer/tutor, how do you feel when everything went online during your MBA? Wont you feel uncomfortable or insecure or anxiety as you were unable to see them like you did during your degree life.

I took my degree entirely class based, not online.

Yes, of course the difference between online and class based is there. Now with covid 19, it pushes us to get used to the new norm.

Interaction with my lecturers and coursemates still possible through Microsoft Team (virtual platform) and somehow, it enables us to be more self discipline as well.

Those who self learn and actively interact with coursemates study group via online platform will be added advantage.

Networking is still as usual like class based, just that we get to network virtually. If everything ok, we can meet up physically among the coursemates.

Hi, I just enrolled in a MBA program and these are the courses provided by the university. I would like to ask for a favor in recommending which course are more suitable to take in the beginning of the course and which is preferred to take afterwards.

It depends on whether you want to specialise or a general MBA. You have to decide that.

Personally, I find that MBAs are not really that useful in the business world unless you have an MBA from global top MBAs like Harvard, INSEAD, Wharton, etc. I've know a General Manager with an MBA from NTU and an Accountant with an MBA from Adelaide university. Both are still doing the same jobs despite spending thousands on their MBA. They had hoped for better promotion prospects or better jobs, unfortunately, with non-pedigree MBAs, you don't tend to be able to use your MBA to your benefit. The only time I saw MBAs as useful was when a company hired McKinsey consultants for a project. All the consultants that they used on the project had MBAs from Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, so on.
