Ok I read through few post about adding Christian name in front of IC, but those is already consider old post as now is already 2020. Even newest post I think is 2010?
I’ve been baptized but there’s no certificate issue by my church.
I just wanna know is changing name easier compare to few years ago? JPN website just state that bring your birth certificate,passport,IC,bills that’s all. Didn’t mention anything else,like it seems so easy by reading their requirements, macam mesti boleh tukar rasa

Haha, cause people already decide to do just need solution what hahaha

You need baptism cert. Its easy to get. Just talk to your pastor at church. Most churches dont charge for baptism. You can then apply at JPN (jabatan pendaftaran). Fill up the form, bring old ic and apply. Bring along a coat for the photo, the one they give is lousy.

Now the hassle part. Your name is changed completely, no more @ included like previously. So all existing accounts eg bank, property, insurance etc all have to be changed using official letter from JPN.

Make sure you have the legs to run for years, good luck.

Get a letter from church before you go to jpn cause that is one of the document u needed .u can actually change everything except your surname ..

Also, it's called English name not Christian name. Not all Christians have an English name and not all people with English names are Christians. In workplace, people use English names as it's easier to remember.

As a Christian myself without an English name in my IC, I think it's silly to go all the way just to add it in. It might cause many problems in future. My baptismal name is not in my IC. I didn't even add my confirmation name when I was confirmed.

People usually change/add if there's an error. True story (as I can't reveal my real surname, I'll substitute letters): My grandpa's surname is XX but my dad's surname was XXY because the nurse made a mistake, adding an additional letter. However, it's the same pronunciation.

To avoid legal disputes regarding his will (people may argue that my dad is not his son because of different surname), my grandpa added XXY to his name. So, it's XX @ XXY ___ ____

If you're adding the English name just because of social pressure, I suggest not because the problems will outweigh the benefits.

Easy. Just go JPN. With your IC. They can print out for you. I think RM5 per copy.

How about if i lost an ic? How much need to pay? Need to lodge police report?
