Anyhow, I do have a "headshot" of a bee, a different variant though. But it's not a 1:1 close-like-hell-headshot.

105mm alternative? there aren't many out there....tamron 90mm, tokina 100mm, sigma 105mm, and nikkor 105mm AF-d. All of these extends which i hate sad.gif left only the sigma 150mm and 105mm vr that has af-s/hsm, and doesnt extend.

rent sigma? I dun see many places selling this lens in Msia...let alone renting tongue.gif

here's another one in a slightly different pose:

dun get the sigma 105mm ler....most people i know who bought the 105mm drooling over the 150mm only. Take a leap, forget about the stepping stone brows.gif besides, 1 ft from focal plane with the lens fully extended to get 1:1 + lens hood = 1-2" away from the hood? impossible to shoot 1:1 with vicious bugs ler laugh.gif Im gonna get a 1.4TC with to use with my lenses when i get the chance...150mm is still kinda short for some bugs...it's good to keep a farther distance so that u dun need to use flash and ur shadow won't block the subject biggrin.gif

Yeah bokeh l33tness...I just joined bokeh wh0res group in flickr. Those shots all taken at around f5.6 i think, @ 2.8...bokeh lagi kau...but subject has to be small. The lens is not heavy at all...merely 900g....ok it's nothing like the 50mm kind of weight...but I'm quite used to heavy weight lens, this lens is relatively light. Did i mention that all these shots are taken handheld? biggrin.gif

Shashinki selling this lens @ RM2600, and the 105mm vr @ RM2700 man...damn kau expensive....sweat.gif

Luke, u passed landscape liao lar....go grab a telemacro for good...works as a portrait sumore brows.gif even if u dun appreciate it, ur gf would heheheh

Haha well, im always having a tight budget around, so sometimes i just cant get what i wanted brows.gif You do have a point there, though to me macro is all about getting close and snap the shot. But a longer distance would certainly help alot. And imagine fitting a ring flash along brows.gif

Wah, still wanna extend it meh sleep.gif The bokeh is really superb, since u have the lens, and if you don't mind, try go and shoot it at f2.8, i wanna drool over the bokeh! drool.gif 900g is light man, though if i hold 1 i might have problems, cuz i used to light lens tongue.gif

I've check the price liao, 150mm f2.8 Macro -- RM2399 only tongue.gif Just have to get the right sauce biggrin.gif But the vr is really a bonus ler =/ so its hard to choose from haha... But my sights is definitely for the 150mm macro biggrin.gif i just hope that they do four thirds mounts too =/

My landscapes still noobish la, i wanna be better at it. Its one of the reasons why i love photography, so i wont pass it tongue.gif I do have a 35mm macro, but i have yet to go test it out, waiting for my friend to come back 1st then only go shoot with him. hehe... Most of my shots for portraits are taken with my kit lens tongue.gif

The only reason why I'd even bother getting something like the micro 60mm 2.8/sigma 50mm macro is for convenience sake of havign the macro capability only. The lens is so short, lens diameter so small, and as a result, bokeh only so so. Not to mention having macro lens at these focal length kinda reduced the speed benefit of these lenses...havign to mess with the focus swicth is a pain.

Shashinki is overpriced ler, if you do source properly..u prolly can get it at a little more than 2k...maybe not possible in msia...try SG? biggrin.gif I got mine for RM1.8k + RM60 for 7 year mack warranty....new with usa warranty. And lucky for me, this sample is damn good (i know ppl like to say this about their sample all the time but it's true in this case tongue.gif), AF is very accurate, but sigma AF can be funky sometimes, and it doesnt like some filters.

Macro with olympus is gonna be a pain oso, prolly have to go old skool MF + tripod or something. All the shots i made was done with AF (i discovered a combo settings to AF with great accuracy) biggrin.gif I think they are around 1:2...af with 1:1 magnification can die....hunt like hell sweat.gif

Switch to Nikon before u invest more in oly brows.gif

yeah, thats why, my 35mm macro is mainly for that, though the minimal focal distance is around 5 cm or lower(only that i can get a true 1:1), it definitely will help me train my patience. The only problem is getting the flash bounce nicely to make the shot nice biggrin.gif A friend of mine say that go for continuous af would help if u train it nicely, but im more of a manual focus dude for macro =/ and 1 thing that i do not like, the focusing speed of my 35mm is somehow slow =/

tell me about messing with the focus switch, for oly you have to change it in the camera, not on the body laugh.gif

you serious about the price? that's uber cheap! sweat.gif 7 years warranty somemore sweat.gif What do you mean about the AF can be funky? biggrin.gif Its a pain, but i dont mind that, others can overcome it, why not me? biggrin.gif no need tripod some more laugh.gif

Im not going to switch back to the dark side(i used to own a D70s you know). I have to admit that the dark side is really tempting again, Nikon's done a really great job on that, kudos to them. But now im investing in oly only. Waiting for the P-1 to be released before i change my body. And in the future, will go back to a Canon, this time, full frame. biggrin.gif If i have the cash, i'd go for both Olympus and canon. But I might find me a D70s, just for its Infrared Capabilities. tongue.gif

The oly 3af points make it very susah to macro with AF, thus...old skool manual lor. I find manual very very very difficult with these insects that move alot. MF no need AF points though compo also alot easier.

Yup, USD500+ only...I could have gotten it RM100 cheaper but I'd been waiting forever for that dealer to get the stock in...this is having a shortage in NA.

Yeah I knew u had a d70s...i just didn't know when u switched to oly sweat.gif FF ar? I'm actually kinda interested in the 5D + 85mm 1.4 zeiss planar + f mount adapter brows.gif
