yes, somehow cherry mx on filco/varmilo/leopold are smoother, compared to stock switches found at taobao, relatively speaking.

after tuned it's a different story.

Can't find any info on the Internet but I did ask the sales person and is not pre-lubed. Will try to lube without desolder and see what is the outcome.

Not sure how you intend to "lube without desolder", but that's a great way to ruin a good keyboard. Especially if you're buying into that spray lube hype. icon_question.gif

Been using the method in the video and apply on my Ducky SF. The typing has been better but I am still not satisfied. Not using spray lube.

Yes, almost forgotten about this other method since most people are raving over the oh so convenient method of using spray lube. However, while this method does make a difference, I think it misses out on one of the more important aspects of properly lubing a switch, the springs. Most springs in stock switches make some form of noise (spring ping or spring crunch) and friction which impacts the overall sound & feel too. But, yeah, without a doubt, to desolder and solder just to lube would be a hassle for most people and hence I would always advice starting from a custom kit unbuilt instead of starting with a built kit, unless, of course, the things you want is not commonly available in custom PCBs.

While this method does not properly lube the spring but it does make a difference on my Ducky SF and improve typing feel. However it still not satisfied me therefore went for Leopold. I did considered to go for custom built with hot swap but the price is too high and out of my budget.

it's similar to spray lubing in terms of messiness created, and its effect is partial.

well, if you're comfortable with this, so be it.

yes the differences are obvious. (even silent red on leopold is one of the kind smooth, different from the usual scratchy and mushy feel of typical silent red in nylon housing)

i'm sure stock switches in all commercial boards are genuine, and they are as scratchy as stock switches found at taobao. hence i believe additional steps are done to make the differences.

right, it will make a difference or two, but still incomplete. (for instance, the key to lube springs is at two ends) like the video said, probably 80%, which might be good enough to many, because it takes less time, and less risk on spoiling pcb in processes like desoldering.

also, while it might be ok for linear switches, it's not a good idea to do the same to other switch types.

Currently I'm on a IKBC CD108 with Cherry MX Brown switches - I found out that MX Browns are not that tactile to say the least (it feels more like a Red switch) hmm.gif

Are there any switch that feels more tactile? hmm.gif

from off the shelf board, not much u can choose from except if u find cherry mx clear. yet again, clear uses heavier switch which u may or may not like.

if aftermarket switch, there is a lot to choose from depending on ur budget for switches.

you can find corsair's genuine key cap sets (black, white), thick double-shot pbt, at taobao, like this one, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=562014686345

alternatively, you can also find other compatible sets there too.

now you know how thin those stock caps are.

yes, there are several sets that are compatible with corsair k70's non-standard layout. however they are available at taobao mainly.

the link that i shared with you above is where i got mine. they are genuine corsair sets, good-quality 1.5mm-thick double-shot pbt.

you can hardly find good key cap sets at local pc shops.
