Finished new gaming keeb.

- GK87 with added plate foam and neoprene sheet
- Everglide stabilizers clipped, bandaid-ed and overlubed (failed badly at holee modding, don't ask ><)
- Gateron KS-3 browns full black housing with TX Firms and 205G0
- Generic dye-sub keycaps from KPRepublic

in terms of qualities that affect sound and feel, it's similar to jtk/gmk. imo it's a good option for those who look for triple-shot at retail.

Dang you're fast! I was just looking at this the other day and thinking I could pair it with BOW alphas to make a knock off Rudy. But that colour is really off man.

The problem is actually with the case design, its too soft. bottom part is actually alright, just the middle frame is too soft and flimsy.
*
Have you built any other stacked acrylic cases before? The middle parts are generally quite fragile. It isn't normally a problem once it is built and sandwiched between layers.

IMO to get a good sound from a stacked acrylic case, you need a hollow cavity of at least 3mm between PCB and bottom sheet.

they are unique, thick abs with triple-shot at retail, so i must check them out lol

for this set, the colorway is really off. i'm fine with it because the sound and feel are ok haha

i hope they make more based on the existing colorways of their sa sets.

Hi guys, im still new at this so let me know if this is a stupid question - im using RK61 with red switches, and thinking of buy new keycaps to make the typing sounds nicer (more 'muted'? ASMR kind).

Looking at this honey & milk keycaps. Want to know if changing the keycaps would make a difference in the sound: https://shopee.com.my/product/385045247/648...56-1628405738.9

Thanks for your advice.

I use those. Definitely a better sound than stock Filco keycaps. More thonk when typing.

Just swapped my Gateron Blues on my Keychron C1 to mostly Akko Matcha Greens with some of the other colors mixed in to test out the feel. Kailh Box Whites on the Esc/Spacebar keys. Dunno how I lived until now with just Cherry Browns cry.gif

I'm thinking of getting this to replace the stock keycaps which suck some massive dick.

I'm happy with the quality of the switches. Really nice box and packaging by Akko thumbsup.gif

right, thicker caps will sound deeper and lower-pitched.

in general, sound profile is affected by a lot of things. here are the extensive listings: http://blacksimon.tv/science (alt: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15Xm...0oqr8Aux24SNz0/ )

in terms of key caps, we can look at the keycaps tab.
you can try contacting builders at mymkb mechmarket's provider list, https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYMECHMARKE...79389625627322/

usually, a non-permanent fix would be to blow dry air into inside of switch using blower, and spam the keys repeatedly. this often works for mx style switches.

Much appreciated!

And if I couldn't get this keyboard fix, I guess I have to find a new one that's easy to repair (in case things like this happens again sweat.gif )

you're welcome.

yes key chattering could be due to different reasons. if it's about switch only, it shouldn't be a problem. if it's not, then the costs might be different.

New project. Make a numpad to match my main keyboard. Raw materials all here.

Attached Image

Just need to do some prototyping in cardboard first before cutting my acrylic sheets.

Under RM200 isn't going to give you a bunch of choices since usually good quality keyboard are more than rm200, doesn't mean there aren't any good choice either

I'm not sure whether you have tried the switches before, if you haven't better for you to try them out first before you actually buy the keyboard
Since you are new to MK so most likely you will like the feeling of blue switches, but yeah those things can wait until you are getting more familiar to these things

Whats your requirement for the size? Want the num pad? Or if you have a small table than maybe need to go for 75%, 65% or even 60% keyboard

Usually if you no deal with numbers all the time num pad isn't necessary, TKL version (the keyboard wont have the numpad) will be good enough

Under RM200 i suggest something from Royal Kludge and Tecware Phantom

Armageddon and red dragon also pretty decent but they look really "gaming", if you are ok with the design then go for it, some of the keyboards by these companies are also below RM200

If possible la, I still suggest you to actually try the switch out yourselves if you have never went to computer shop and type on those keyboards before to make sure which switch you will like

Which Tecware Phantom do you recommend me ? I have found RK71 to be quite good and I quite like the sound of Brown switches..... Is there any better alternatives compared to RK71? Thanks!

Hi guys.

I'm planning to get a 60-65% keyboard, currently looking at Tecware B68 as it comes with Gateron yellow and is hot swappable. Not really planning to swap switches for now, but will be convenient as I plan to learn to lube the switches and maybe mod the stabilizers.

Also considering the Anne Pro 2 and Keychron K6.

Any thoughts on the choices above? Or any other recommendations? My criteria is just 60% or 65% layout with linears. Doesnt matter wired/wireless or rgb. Thanks in advance!
