A unique watch just for you well of course using all the original part of the watch that is. I think the most command one in Malaysia is G Shock and Seiko?

Lets list it all here , watch mod owners are also welcome to share their experiences.

Modding will void warranty for the watch but then again having your own custom built watch kinda of validates that.

I think for watches below RM 1500, modding it may bring much joy. Seiko 5 is one of the most modded watch I believe, and those look very cool indeed.

But I think building own watch is even cooler, especially some parts are quite easy to get, like the miyota movement.

Building up from scratch will be very time consuming but then yeah it will be satisfaction to the max. I am very particular about the seconds hand it needs to decorated and normal seconds hand wont do for me.

Standard issue Seiko Monster

The hands second at least have the Lume ... and pointer ... When it comes with shapes that will be a bonus point.

Lol. Okay. Now I get what sort of second hands you like.

And Seiko's lume is definitely one of the best I have seen. Here is my one and only Seiko 5.

When I saw how other people modding the seikos, and see how some people source parts and build their watch from scratch, it makes me dream to do a custom 18k white gold watch, with 12 GIA/AGS graded diamonds, together with a Swiss movement.

Considering how those luxury watches are selling such watches at a hefty 6 digit price, in reality, if we really DIY it with the right materials, the cost should be less than 100k (including the machines needed to do the necessary work, like a good 3D printer, learning how to use lost wax casting to turn the 3D watch case into a real thing). Can save more if I engage a jeweller to materialize my design for me as I don't have to buy any machines or rent a bench for the custom jewellery work. If I outsource this part of the work, I am predicting the cost to be less than RM 50k.

And I have to say the diamonds are natural and will be individually picked and comes with all the performance images and graded by highly reputable lab.

The hands will be aftermarket. I am sure we can find something interesting. If not, then maybe again, we can put the 3D printer to good use.

As for the strap, if using a chain bracelet, it will be something aftermarket as well. If using leather strap, then I think locally in Malaysia, we have some good leather goods artisan, and I might use lamb skin just for its uniqueness, but may change my mind as it is probably too delicate.

With that, I will have a heirloom for my son. Cos cannot afford “You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation.”

Ok, end of day dreaming. Horology is an expensive hobby. Something I cannot afford as of now. tongue.gif Thanks for your time.

Then there is the issue of quality built, with those materials and set ups I dont think that you are going to deep in a ppol with that watch on your wrist.

Black out look and stealthy as for me .. missing the seconds hand well like most G Shock is since its compensated with the digital hands count.

Ohh yeah its without a solar thats a bummer well since the price point was never meant for solar charge.

And if only the lume all around the markers ...
