I think prepaid market is bigger than the postpaid with 70% is prepaid and 30% is postpaid. Most of the telco now focus postpaid bundle with device and premium services. If Maxis managed to capture the competitor prepaid customer, definitely their market revenue will increase. Prepaid customer mainly from students, unemployed, PATI, Malay and Indian community from outside city or B40, elder people, etc while postpaid mainly business, working adult, family plan, etc. Prepaid user anyhow will still need to top up once reach the due date and their credit easily grow to hundreds if seldom use. But if change it to the commitment plan, every month will deduct the credit and the telco company will gain more revenue. I think most prepaid data user prefer Umobile and elder people non data user prefer Digi.

I suggest you no need to pin first.

Who is going to use the data for more than 83GB in just 2 days only?

Normal users are using 3 - 4GB data per day only.

Probably watch HD movies? Or download movies?

I think Digi might not join the prepaid war. If they do join with the package of RM35 based on RM28 plan unlimited Youtube and Social Media + unlimited call, I think they might win. What sdo you say?

Want to ask maybe a stupid question , since hotlink and maxis under same shit different just a entry and more premium

Are hotlink 4g download speed same as maxis one plan?
Ignore the data blah just want to know the speed
*
Not sure because usually no people signed up prepaid and postpaid from same telco to use it together. Usually people will signed up either prepaid or postpaid from other telco as secondary backup. Maybe those family member that use one prepaid and the other one postpaid can advice giving the test on it.

*

Yes. Please give feedback after testing...
Curious if really Maxis limit the speed .

Test for Hotlink Postpaid 30 speed with Fast.com
Tested 5 times. The lowest max speed is 10Mb while highest is 20Mb. The rest fluctuate within the range but it start slowly from 400kb till stop at the highest speed.
The speed test really huge data consumption. 160Mb for 5 times or 16 % of my 1Gb data monthly data. doh.gif But for testing ok la..benefit for all of us.

Meaning that Speedtest is for overall performance while fast.com is for test stream Netflix speed?
Just quite confuse with the results between speedtest and fast.com

Digi is well known as disruptor in telco industry.. :lol
It said Maxis has revised their postpaid plan earlier
June but how come Hotlink postpaid not included?

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...nsify-price-war

PETALING JAYA: Digi.com Bhd’s latest service package is expected to further intensify the already fierce price war in the prepaid segment, said AmInvestment Bank Bhd.

For a long time, Digi is known to be the disruptor in the cellular industry until U Mobile emerged a few years ago and spiced up the marketplace.

This latest offering by Digi could potentially see data prices being reduced slightly or more data added to offerings for the prepaid segment of the market.

In early June, Maxis Bhd had revised its current postpaid plan. It added more data for the same price. That also meant that it was getting rid of the weekday-weekend day split, a move welcomed by some users.

Celcom Axiata Bhd also last week offered new add-on options for its postpaid customers.

Digi this week launched its new prepaid Next, which it claims is the only prepaid starter pack to come preloaded with 30 days of high-speed Internet.

AmInvestment said the price point of the new package was half of Digi’s first quarter 2020 average revenue per user (ARPU) of RM30 per month.

“Despite these unlimited data plans, both Maxis and Celcom aim to maintain their prepaid ARPU above RM30 per month versus the celco sector’s RM31 per month, ’’ the research house said.

It added that even U Mobile’s most affordable prepaid plan with unlimited data is priced at RM30 per month with speed caps at 6Mbps and 6GB of hotspot quota.

“With these substantively lower prices, we may be at the cusp of another all-out war as prepaid subscribers gravitate towards the least expensive monthly outlays under the current Covid-19-dampened economic outlook and diminished consumer spending power, ’’ it said.

For the first quarter of this year, Digi’s net subscribers had slumped year-on-year by 250,000 mainly from the prepaid segment losing 500,000 subscribers, which was partly offset by gains in postpaid users.

It said while prepaid ARPU was stable quarter-on-quarter at RM30 per month, blended ARPU slid RM1 per month to RM40 per month due to a RM3-per-month decline in postpaid to RM69.

“This stemmed from lower pricing entry from prepaid migration and decreasing non-revenue generating subscribers, ’’ the research house said.

“We view Digi’s new marketing strategy as management’s desperate efforts to retain its leading position in the prepaid segment, which accounts for a market share of 39% among the top 3 operators.

“For now, we retain our forecasts pending further clarity on the reaction of other cellular operators over the next few months, ’’ AmInvestment said.

It continues to have a “hold’’ call on the stock.
