Ok lets say i want to install JBL STAGE 600C Component speakers.

And these are 2.5 Ohms....2.5 Ohms seems low for car power supply.

Will installing this directly into the Head Unit without amplifier, cause overheating and burn down the car?

Actually, getting a small amplifier would be the safest bet.

What small amplifier is cheap and works?

Well, the HU does have built-in amplifier inside in form of Power Amp IC. I'd say this IC will just shut down when overheated and works again once cooled down. If continue over-driving it, then it will damage eventually.

I was thinking that too. so i was thinking, from Head Unit to this.

https://shopee.com.my/Blaupunkt-EMA-275-Amp...3005.3735513799

Then from this Blaupunkt Amplifier, to this

https://shopee.com.my/JBL-STAGE-600C-300W-M...0758.2727409391

Then disable the rear speakers.

Good idea?

You are only replacing the door speaker?

No problem in your idea but just aware that the speaker is 50X RMS and the Amp is 60W RMS each channel. Well, even if the Amp is less power than the speakers, driving the amp into continuous distortion can also damage the speakers laugh.gif

Why want to disable the rear speaker. I think you can drive them from the HU and use Fader function to control the volume?

I'm not into car stereo fro ages. laugh.gif

they manufacture the lower ohm speaker to let you enjoy the music at a "minimal number" of volumn increase, so you will think the spk are "low volumn" but sounds great!! tongue.gif

you headunit will be able to use with the speaker, but just don;t blast it always or the headunit will gonna blown. Its only for normal upgrade, not for hardcore / loudness freak.

if you want to use it with an amp, then why not get a 4ohm speaker which reduce the distortion at lower resistant?

i always suggest getting a 4ohm speaker to reduce the distortion from a power source, since most amplifier are still good at 4ohm, go for the safe bet will be more desired.
