Unit below me is leaking water. The owner and management thinks that our unit is causing the leak due to bathroom waterproofing are done for. But hear this interesting findouts. Previously the unit below had complained water leakage issues and the management had come checked and still thinks it was the bathrooms. With the just recent rainless days, the unit below stopped complaining about leaking issues. Only then this week the unit started complaint again and it happens to be heavy daily downpour outside.
But, lets say just incase I agree to management's suggestion to re-waterproofing our bathrooms and if the unit below still complaints leaking issues:
What can I do when management asks to re-do the tiles on other sites than bathrooms and can I say that even after waterproofing repair, this issue isn't coming from my unit?

Btw the management never really checked for leakage on my unit, they just come and see bathrooms like you would when visiting someone's house. Also, we never done any renovations and the house is just as it is when received.

Ask their appointed contractor to undertake the job. So for any future leakages, ask below unit to refer to them.

Are you referring to the Defects Liability Period? If DLP is already over, any other claims available? I am in a water leakage situation too but I am the unit below.

Also, we never done any renovations and the house is just as it is when received. I find the first post a bit contradictory. If the management already concluded that the water leakage on the bottom floor wasn't attributable to your unit then on what grounds they demand you to "re-do" the tilings? These "water leakages test" are usually carried out by flooding the space directly above the complained area and if the flooding doesn't reproduced the complained leakages then it can be safely concluded that your unit has nothing to do with it. Whether your unit is "stock" or "renovated", under the new Strata Management Act, all owners in the same development owns a "duty" to each other especially when it comes to "water leakages" issues like yours. While i understand what these inconveniences may cause but this is something you need to live with it, "perks" of living in a high-rise/stratafied community.
