First of all, my dad went to this private hospital after he fainted. Hospital did covid19 test on him as per follow SOP all patient admitted hospital have to undergo the covid19 test.

after my dad discharged from the hospital, hospital charged my dad RM 908 + for the covid19 test. i was shocked TWICE! after looking at the amount of the covid19 test. * my dad claim insurance one so this test arent covered by INSURANCE so we have to bear the charges under personal payment!

i ask them why is this so expensive? they said they literally did the test in Operation Theather. and the description of covid19 test (face shield, facemask, apron, gloves, goggle) .


Are they violating the covid19 test charges? can i sue the hospital? Hospital refused to give me the billings and they hold my deposit for close to almost 3 weeks! i havent pay them yet because i say this is too high!

i am sorry i unable to disclose for now as this case havent settle. Im doing it all alone by myself now since my dad is recovering.

thats what im thinking as well. even the most expensive i seen so far, KPJ & thompson theyre doing it for rm 500+- maybe?

Fair price la for all associated service. Hospital provide service, not PPE parts price.

Walk in sahaja like KPJ is 600.

But if u go OT hospital will charge everything from PPE, plaster, bandage, glucose what ever that was use. So 900 is overall ke? Cheap la.

If 900 only covid agak mahal.

I did in Assunta before I had a procedure done was rm500. Have to self pay even though procedure covered by insurance.

rm 500 still justify as few hospital also charging the rate. this rm 900 is mind boogling

Man hour rates. Maybe that is high end hospital, 500 maybe not apple to apple. Different hospital have own system and tariff charges, are not standard pricing. Government provide guideline but nothing stop them to charge what is appropriate. Maybe to get result also they bypass queue of other people for qRT-PCR as soon as possible for your dad urgently. Utmost priority given to your dad I believe. You loss RM900 here but in safe hand and your dad is all well. You will gain RM9,000 elsewhere.

Could you ask them for the price for each individual items ? Last time the surgical mask made headline when it was sold by one health care facility with Marked up price at rm11.50 per pieces

Looks like covid19 is a profitable biz to the hospitals... 🤦🏻‍♂️

The problem is "private hospital", they can charge whether they like.

Ask the price before doing any treatment next time.

My Suggestion: Ask them to list out each item with the price.
Btw, this is the first time I heard covid test need to be done in OT
