Hi Investors/ Gamblers,

Wanna ask what's the taxes are like for investing in US and EU markets? (Especially Euronext, or the other major markets like LSE, Xetra)

US is 0 for capital gains, 30% witholding for dividends. Can someone confirm if i'm right?

No idea about EU, can't find any info online about it specifically for Malaysians

Edit: Also side question, how are the laws for money deposits like for EU, are they as strict about duit kopi compared to US? Asking for friend smile.gif

Different European companies different dividend tax rate.
Need to see also if your brokerage blanket with hold tax, or they with hold correctly based on treaty with Malaysian govt.

Thanks for the reply! I was planning to access EU markets thru tsg/ibkr, I’m aware that you’re using them too right smile.gif Was wondering if I could have some insight from sifu about the withholding tax if you’ve ever traded Eu via them

I have no idea. I will wait for some of my dividend end of this year or next year. Then we see how is it with hold. Is it blanket ban or selective withhold.

tax across EU is not uniform. You have to check with the respective country.

Ireland has no dividend withholding tax but can't say the same about the nordic countries.

Income remitted from abroad is exempted from tax from IRA of Malaysia. There is no capital gain tax in Malaysia either.
