Since ayam wanted to buy laptop so keep reading up everything on pc, now im deep in the rabbit hole
Intel processor video playback test, battery life last for 6 hour AMD processor video playback test, battery life last for 12 hours
10 nm processor vs 7nm, so big difference
current iphone 11 use 7nm also, tapao everything, and the next iphone 12 is going to be....
5 NM CHIP!!
Fulamak
Then Samsung Exynos partner with AMD somore, huge fight kambing This time really rip Qualcom and ARM but AMD only can make 7nm for now, plan to release 5nm at 2022, hopefully Samsung can pump in money 99 for them release asap
Meh, unless you're doing specific workflows or are 100% dependent on battery life the benefits are likely to be marginal. Heck, processors have stagnated for so long that even outdated hardware fares pretty decent for most basic tasks. Also, there will never be a good time to buy tech - the next best thing is always around the corner.
I still have many old laptops at home. About 14 to be exact and some fully restored during the lockdown.
Some for retro gaming. Some for basic office work. The more powerful ones as media centre. And the upgradeable ones for daily use. Lastly, I will convert the broken ones into a desktop. I have the following models awaiting conversion.
Dell Inspiron 2600 Dell Inspiron 8200 Dell Latitude C510 Asus EeePC 1500
These 4 were collected from a friend's office dumpster many years ago. Will find a suitable IKEA drawer to house them all. Still can use for something.

Yup, Atom netbooks are excellent as low power servers.

Your phone can use continuously for 12 hours+ you not hyped meh? Samsung screen on time 6 hours, Iphone screen on time 8 hours (and they put in lower capacity batteries in their phones), so imagine having a 5nm chip with a 5000mah battery, dont even need to carry powerbank around. and all in the NEXT FEW MONTHS

Cannot keep up one la. Just buy something u can use for next 2-3 years or opt for older models and upgrade slowly.
Do u need faster CPU for office work? If gaming then ok. If not, save your money.
Yea want a laptop capable for gaming, but all need to compromise, especially on battery life. Even one of the brands I checked RM4.5k only have battery life of 90 minutes, won't you feel cheated? Bring laptop to college or cafe and have to keep finding plug point like sohai only
I dont mind if the CPU is more powerful or not, but it uses less energy which means it also runs COOLER, wont overheat and dont even need to crank up the fan. The next stuff is not marginal upgrade, its really a huge leap thats why ayam hyped
Ya. My WD Cloud NAS died this morning. Looks like the proc overheated. Gonna use the EeePC as the replacement running on Linux.
I use my netbook as a file server as well
SSH to remote login. Samba for file sharing. Syncthing as a Dropbox replacement. JDownloader as a download manager (Used PyLoad but family didn't like it)
I set up ampache to stream music too, but nobody wants to use it
