I love seaweed salad popiah and kept buying them when I was staying in Ampang last time. However, since I moved to Sarawak, I couldn't find any vendor or pasar that sells this seaweed salad popiah.

So I plan on making them on my own but couldnt find the recipes online. From what i have researched, the recipe includes seaweed, popiah skin, cucumber, carrot, sengkuang, mayonnaise BUT theres one more ingredients that I couldnt identify. The color is golden as in the photo attached, the texture is crunchy, sort of like fried shallots but it doesnt taste like shallots. Anyone knows what that is?

It does look like dried shallots to me. Or dried shrimps.
