I am a matriculation student and I managed to get 4.00 cgpa in my matrics. I am planning to pursue chemical engineering in um .I hv put it as my first choice .

Is it guaranteed for me to get into to chemical engineering into um ?

Any opinion or experience from ex/current um students ? I am a non bumi (Indian ) . People around me tell that seats are very very limited for chemical engineering in um therefore it's not guranteed . Like maybe 8 seats for Indians from all over the country . Plus times are bad .

Any thoughts on this ?

Is it still worth it to get a uni degree in modern era now? You can study all the knowledge straight from open course ware right?

ITT, A dumb UM graduate can't accept that his uni is inferior to most overseas universities and trying to argue in rempit language

To TS, chemical engineering is a broad as hell degree and I strongly against your idea of doing it at UM, or Malaysia in general. Those curriculums are heavily biased towards oil and gas and you'll be out of job soon

Go look for chem eng degrees that focus on semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, nuclear and renewables, nanotech or material science. You'll thank me later.

Your matriculation might not open up much doors for you but just do a fast tracked foundation and you can get into most elite/ prestige unis. Its not just about the degree. You'll have to worry about the rest of your life after the 4 years at uni.

Might look EE ish but the course content is really different from EE

I'm a Chem Eng myself and we do learn about chemical vapour deposition / photolithography in our course (semicon manufacturing)

As well as pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and biomolecular engineering

I'm glad I diversified my electives else I'll be in deep shit right now with the plummeting oil price and reduced shale exploration

I was ee student but i remember vaguely that i took several semicon related classes

Gate size. Finfet. Mosfet. Dieelectrics. Material used

Yea but it towards EE centric

The quota for university should be stopped. Too many uni. Too many graduates. Not enough jobs. More student should be in poly learning alternative skills.

Plot twist, TS gotten the matriculation tongkat, hence he’s at the point of no return already.

Matriculation cert can only be used for IPTA applications.

there should be limit to number of students per programme and per university. only creme of the creme would get this vacancy. others have to compete somewhere. this should be implemented. private uni shouldn't flourish ikut suka.
