I recently needed a new number and bought a prepaid Hotlink. Not long after I activated the number, as well as login into Whatsapp with that new number, a name appears. It seems that the number that I newly bought was 'used' by someone else before me. When I bought the sim, I did went through the sim registration successfully with my IC and I also checked the Hotlink statement and it is showing my name correctly.
Is this normal? what can I do to 'flush' my number so that nobody else is using except me?
P/S: 2 strangers just Whatsapp call me while I'm typing this, must be that previous owner's friends I guess.

Yup. Recycled numbers. It's normal.
Last year someone paid my aunt cash RM1000 to get his old number back.
Easy money.

Yes it is normal, yet can be annoying, sometimes.
I bought a Digi number because I wanted to try their internet plan and have receiving numerous calls from Indonesians fella. I believe the previous owner must be Indonesian working in Malaysia.
