Hi guys; what do you guys think about it if we replace iPhone battery ourselves

My iPhone 6s Plus battery is degraded already

I saw on shopee selling iPhone 6s battery with tools only like rm30-60

Anyways i have never opened an iPhone before, but I do upgrade my own laptop specs , disassemble and assemble on myself

What do you guys think ?

Since it’s old and disposable might as well learn something new from it.

The main reason I don’t want to change original battery is because of the cost, rm200 for a battery

I understand that original ones may last longer and better investment in the Long run, but given that ip6s plus is old already, there is a probability that the phone might just die or crash suddenly, then it’s wasted to replace an ori battery.

Anyways thanks for your input biggrin.gif

It’s a burner phone at this point. Just do it. Can learn a new skill at the same time too. Very easy only to replace battery for iPhone 6 Plus.

It's very easy. I know a girl also can do it learned from YouTube.
But probably easier to sell it off?

Four weeks ago my iPhone 7 battery start swollen,
went to Switch store in "The Mines" shopping mall in seri kembangan (before Hari Raya - Thursday)
but the staff at Switch told me need to make appointment 1st and refuse to let me in.
Than I went to have lunch sit down and log in internet to make appointment,
the appointment date it allocated was Friday 5:00PM.
So disappointed, that means I have to come back to their store again next day.
Wasted all my time for nothing.

Until now I still have no time to send my iPhone 7 to replace the swollen battery.
Everyday are so busy with work.
I keep my iPhone in a metal box container.

I understand how you feel, actually during that time I also don't know that I have to make appointment for inspection first, and also I busy with work but I still can take a half day leave/full day/lunch hour for collection (depends) to settle. Authorised store like that got SOP, unless you go 3rd party then it's different. Some store may not accept swollen battery replacement I think, always best to check by call/email first.

i've just change both the screen on one of my iphone and the battery too

iphone 6 plus, ori screen cracked, so since the battery also needs replacing i d.i.y both

bought at shopee, aaa screen for about rm62, battery rm40 + that glue sticker

open up the casing, took clear before photo of everything

for replacing the lcd screen remember to place all the screws properly,

i open the screws and place it in its correct order by having a cardboard to stick it in

for the battery just pulled the sticker glue slowly straight towards the bottom, not pull around the the battery / towards the side

then remember its correct position before sticking in the new sticker glue

both the lcd and battery replacement takes about an hour and a half, i guess others can do it much faster

good luck

it dont require much skill, just need some extra delicate hands when handling thr pryers.

another issue is to source for reliable 3rd party battery. starting from ip Xs++, iphone added additional chips to detect if the battery installed is ORI, as in the stock battery. Even if you swap the battery with another genuine battery from another phone, it gonna get detected as false negative.

I took the courage and DIY on my old iPhone 6s. Used the Yoobao extended battery capacity, and to my surprise it lasts like a tank compared to the original one

I got mine from this seller, may have a look. The only thing im uncertain now is that, how long would the battery capacity last in the long run. But am pretty happy at the moment. Good luck!

Yeap it works, it displays 100% capacity and it shows peak performance capability too. I too was afraid at first, but the iphone was able to detect it so it's fine biggrin.gif

Not a good idea unless you are very patient and gentle. The ribbons are quite small and easily broken

Just to share my diy experience after changing two iphone batteries
1. buy brand battery from official store e.g Yoobao, others probably wont last long
2. just follow ifix instruction, and get a better "suction", those free with battery kit isn't strong enough. make use of hair dryer to heat up
3. hardest part is opening the screen (as its glue is strong), removing battery (use alcohol and card to scrap away the battery glue)
4. patient, first timer probably need 1 to 2 hours to finish the job or else just pay others to do for you
