There's no problem mixing RAM, unless you're aiming for performance.

Mixing RAM is fine, as long as they belong to the same technology & voltage If your laptop only supports DDR3L (low voltage) you can only add in a DDR3L as well, cannot mix DDR3 & DDR3L Also, used DDR3 for laptops is really cheap nowadays. If you're willing to wait for around 7 days, you can just buy from Shopee overseas seller I just bought 2x4GB DDR3L for my spare Macbook Pro for a total of RM92 RM46 per stick for 2x4GB DDR3L 1600MHz (12800), can't get any cheaper than that

Thanks you can add provided there is extra slots. low cost producers tend to fill all the slots with ram rather than 2 slots out of 4. cheaper to use lower density ram to fill up all 4 slots than use a higher density for 2. since ddr3 laptop guessing win7/8. not really worth the trouble to migrate to ssd. the bit about bf failing to repair should set alarm bells off. haha

overall RAM speed will take the slowest RAM speed
But really the difference in DDR3 is minimal unlike DDR4

Even 32GB of RAM is still useless if you are still using HDD But to clarify, it doesn't mean if you use SSD, you don't have to upgrade your RAM You still need to upgrade your RAM My upgrade advise: 2x4GB RAM 240GB SSD

Yes Huge boost when starting Windows, loading software & because of the faster loading times, my laptop now runs a bit cooler & battery last longer too, not by much, but still got some difference nonetheless
