Good day.

I would like to operate a food joint selling hawker food. No walk in, purely to cater Grab/Food Panda and other online platform. Kitchen location is planned to be along LDP stretch ie: PJ, Puchong, Sunway, some part of Old Klang Road.

Anyone that operate on same module can share how the platform works, specifically in entry cost, profit sharing, order rates per day, payment back to operator and other insights.

Im open to any alternative platform with good traffic to discover. Your opinion and review are greatly appreciated.

Ps: I am from F&B background and wish to explore alternative way of doing business.

Im handling this third part delivery platform for my brands.
No need to worry for payment from big player like foodpanda and grabfood. Foodpanda will pay u every week while grabfood will pay u everyday.

They will provide statement.

I dont know how to start but u can ask me almost everything for foodpanda and grabfood.

Commission if u only have single restaurant, might be higher.

For traffic, Both platform foodpanda and grabfood has they own audience. It will not shared same audience so I will get sales from both platform without reducing each others.

During MCO, percentage from this platform shot until 60% some even 100%

Hi. Michael here.

1. From above, if i have one premise will get higher comm rate? Doesn't make sense because they will not make money if an order was made from far distance. Example: Shah Alam to Bangsar. Kindly enlighten me.

2. Do i need to pay deposit to be a merchant?

3. Do i need to prepare hardware ie: mobile phone, QR scanner for payment, QR logo (as my shop identity)...ect? Or they will provide it to me for a fee?

4. Ads for my product/shop to appear in their platform, charge separately or included in commission rate they charging on my product? Extra charge to be featured on main page?

5. How much commission rate are they charging on my product? Random online source indicates Grab charging 30%.

6. Your platform provide food delivery service as well? Do share to me how can i utilise it. Same questions as above and payment term too.

Hi. Michael here.

1. From above, if i have one premise will get higher comm rate? Doesn't make sense because they will not make money if an order was made from far distance. Example: Shah Alam to Bangsar. Kindly enlighten me.
- if not mistaken, they will take 35% from your total sales. So u need to increase your selling price for the platform to cover back your own cost.
- Area of coverage is just within your area 3-5KM, example your restaurant located at SS15, people in that area only can see u, but not people in shah alam and USJ.

2. Do i need to pay deposit to be a merchant?
- registration is free, but i cant recall if they require deposit for device, u will need to check with them.

3. Do i need to prepare hardware ie: mobile phone, QR scanner for payment, QR logo (as my shop identity)...ect? Or they will provide it to me for a fee?
- they will provide the device to you.
However during MCO, they device delivery might delay. They will ask you to run at your own device first by download merchant application at play store.
- any material, like tentcard, sticker they will provided free.

4. Ads for my product/shop to appear in their platform, charge separately or included in commission rate they charging on my product? Extra charge to be featured on main page?
- they have different packages for ads, do check with them

5. How much commission rate are they charging on my product? Random online source indicates Grab charging 30%.
- yes, around that, however my restaurant commission is lowered since we are covering more than 150restaurant, thus cannot compare with single owner restaurant.

6. Your platform provide food delivery service as well? Do share to me how can i utilise it. Same questions as above and payment term too.
- we dont have our own delivery, but i tell you, even mcd and Dominos that got they own delivery also put foodpanda and grabfood as additional because they want to be in all platforms without loosing the trends.
- Free delivery is up to them, usually if the merchant is new, they will provide free delivery and spotlight space for few weeks or month.
- payment term like i said, grabfood will pay daily and foodpanda pay weekly, they will bankin directly to you registered bank account.
