So many new launches recently. The market for a mid-range device is really tough. If I was in the market for a sub RM600 phone with a large screen, what should I get. Good camera is a bonus. Good battery life, better.

Suggestions?

600rm phones are quite usable nowadays. Not everyone can swing 4k for high end hardware.

The old bugbear of lower midrange phones were the cameras and cpu. But both the realme 6i and the Redmi note 8 are pretty decent.

A 600rm phone is far more usable than what was available just a few years back.

That said, I will go with the redmi note 8 for the better screen. But the 720p screen in the realme isn't particularly bad, but the battery life on the realme is stupendous.

To be serious, I hadn't seen the need to go buy a phone that is much more than 1k with my last 3 phones in the last 4 years already, previously using 3 generations of Samsung notes. I just change phones every year or so now instead of using an old flagship.

I will never new cheap phones. I opt to buy used flagships. My current daily is the good old OP5. Still damn good. Bought it at 700 last year. Has 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Best part? Android 10 is undergoing beta testing for it and should be out soon.

And I will never spend above RM 1000 for any phones.

Good arguments on both sides. I started looking at 6i and Note 8. Wife is currently using Asus M1 and needs a new phone.

This.

I have a Redmi note 6 as a backup phone and it’s incredibly reliable. I’ve never had any issues with Xiaomi products. Definitely cheap and reliable.
