Not every router feature this technology. Budgeted one most likely no.

Search for "DSL modem" on shopee/lazada. If you want 5ghz then look for AC on the description, if N it only support 2.4ghz. I try search and unfortunately to tell you modem with AC is all above RM200.

For my case last time it is worth to get 5ghz support, as there's only Streamyx in my place all my neighbor is using 2.4ghz. During peak time my internet over wifi slowed down tremendously but if using LAN cable no slowdown. After research I found out because too many people using 2.4ghz wave at same time the signal affected badly. After I got 5ghz router no more slowdown.

I also have multiple devices that stream data over my local network, 2.4ghz maximum speed is about 5MB/s but usually more like 3MB/s because of interference from neighbor wifi, while 5ghz is 20MB/s, if 5ghz MIMO can go 40MB/s, 5ghz hard to suffer interference.

Another brand to consider is Asus. It is more expensive but worth the money. Last time I'm using N12, now got newer model N16, but these are 2.4ghz wifi only. What I do last time is N12 act as modem only while I get AC86U as router. Asus now got new model AX56U, same performance with AC86U but with WIFI 6 support and only RM400 something, it is a lot cheaper than AC86U. I would suggest you get AX56U or equivalent model, if in future your place changed to high speed Unifi you can reuse the router.

TD-W9960 is support vdsl , and within your budget , but no AC...
or just simply increase the budget, grab that VR400 , definite better than TD-W9960 in every aspect...
would recommend vr400 over td-w9960 .
p/s: btw, stick to the budget is always a good idea..

Too bad your router already bust, otherwise you can try stream data over wifi between your devices during peak hour and see if it can sustain 5MB/s, if cannot then too much interference from other people wifi.

hi, u keep saying that your wifi signal is not stable, so why? did u really look into it?
Perhaps u should install any WiFi Analyser‎ app on your phone, and see if your neighbourhood is too crowd for 2.4G...  2.4G is already  over-crowded  nowadays.. if that so, then increase the budget and grab the one with AC support is your only choice...
and, ur devices need to support the AC too..

but the modem of TS is already kapus, and TS need a modem with router that budget about RM150 (but TS want AC as well  )

so , the choice is obviously in this case either get one within the budget  but no AC, or  increase the budget..
I meant I already cherry pick 2 among numerous brand within ur budget, u just simply random pick one and use it..if unfortunately, u got a faulty item , u can simply return it and choose another brand. RM20 is not much... and the general speaking, the GUI of ASUS is abit better...
both r entry level product, please don't compare them  with expensive product..
btw, it would get the job done, without them u cannot connect to internet, so still worth the money la...

p/s: u can  always google negative comment from any wifi product , coz who doesn't have issue would never try to make a post with it.
nod. that's why I recommended RM250 tier.. general speaking, a bit better cpu and ram ...and hopefully everything butter smooth out of the box, then the extra RM100 is a well spent..

Yup, that's what I try to tell TS 5Ghz may not the solution for his problem (On his original post he want a dual band router).
Out of my experience I spent the most on Asus, but it fail on me also. One of them is a dual band, with build-in antenna, square crystal design (forget the model). Not cheap, as that time dual band still new, pay around 3/400 ringgit. Sucks big times, signal not very good, always ping time out (good luck on playing online game). So that time end up I just directly use LAN to my PC. Till later I bought the Mi Router, a cheap on, actually not bad for the price, software sucks, all Chinese (lucky I can read), signal much better than ASUS, transfer rate also pretty good.

It's about the size of thumb drive, there's no antenna on it. My computer is about 7 or 8 meter away from router with a wall between it. Still can get full signal strength. If more far away then maybe should get those with antenna.
