Source codes are used to control weapon/radar integration, flight dynamics, etc. of the plane.

And why would Malaysia want the source codes? To install Russian weapons? Firstly, we do not have the money or experts to write and alter millions of aircraft coding. Secondly, there is a whole gamut of weapons and electronic support equipment which can be installed on such jets. When you buy a US/Euro jet you are buying into an entire ecosystem of military weapons and tech.

It has nothing to do with targets.

Please learn the basic.
