Where is my stars?

Deluge (using Ubuntu with VMware workstation on windows) gets bugged with pause spam if you try to save files with folders on /mnt/hgfs (vmware shared folders). I found a solution on this by using uTorrent to preallocate the files/folders on a shared folder before running Deluge and save it on the same place.

Other than the python popup error, my Deluge windows port doesn't crash for me but seems that the torrents doesn't get the speed as fast as linux port.

If you turn on the Shared Folders, you can save it on mnt/hgfs/ if you are running Ubuntu with VMware tools on VMware workstation.

QUOTE(slash @ Sep 16 2007, 06:42 PM) how come the torrents keep pausing/downloading/pausing/downloading? EDIT: not sure why this is happening. enabled shared folders in VMmanager. able to create and download a torrent, saving it outside of the virtual environment. but the 2nd torrent wasnt able to allocate the file, and the torrent keeps pausing/downloading/pausing. when i changed the save location to ubuntu desktop, this fixed the problem. This is a bug when you save a torrent that comes with a folder. Use any windows torrent program and pre-allocate it on your shared folder before you use ubuntu torrent programs. Deluge for windows is more stable now and it runs at full speed. Try it to see if the stability is good enough for you or not. This post has been edited by TristanX: Sep 17 2007, 12:55 PM

QUOTE(slash @ Sep 17 2007, 01:12 PM) ah. well u can get rid of the problem if u let it allocate as it downloads. will try windows version later. the previous versions cant max out my line Added on September 17, 2007, 1:13 pmbtw how abt ktorrent? does it have the allocate problem with folders too? Never tried KTorrent. Users in this thread already talked about it. Just use the search feature. QUOTE yeah, i agree. but i think it is not so good on private tracker. would anyone confirm this? deluge for windows has a lot of bugs (at least for me) I cant view peer list. when i click the peers tab when i'm in the middle of download/upload the deluge will exit and some error message popup. "illegal operation bla bla bla" if the torrent have multiple tracker, it only take the 1st one only. Works fine for me. Crashed about 2 times so far when I close it though. Please don't complain on alpha/beta software. Deluge is still on alpha phase.

Speed depends on available users that willing to upload on the current torrent. I still have no speed problems.
Try setting upload to 90% of your upload bandwidth (34-35KB/s for typical 1MBps/384Kbps package). Setting upload too low usually slows your download down and max/unlimited upload could congest the communication of your current torrent network.

QUOTE if that happens, we'll recompile deluge with new fake client ID..soon dont be surprise to see peers with client id 'screw tmnut' in your peers list What about "TMNet can't block me!!" for the name of peer ID? QUOTE(300078 @ Sep 30 2007, 12:06 PM) I am facing a problem like this: The Deluge shows downloading status and connect the peers..... See the speed gaining 1kb->2kb and going up suddenly everything stop see the status changed to paused and all peers disconnect and need to start again! Wat is the problem? Added on September 30, 2007, 12:34 pmJust notice tat the downloaded file place turn back to 0 everytime it restart connecting!!! It is not continuous downloading!!!! Does this mean the tracker i using kena block by TM???? But earlier i manage to get up to 80-90kb...... Are you using Deluge on Linux using VMware for Windows? It's a bug if u do. Just use Windows bittorrent client and pre-allocate it on the same folder before you use Deluge. This post has been edited by TristanX: Sep 30 2007, 05:06 PM

QUOTE(300078 @ Oct 1 2007, 07:52 AM) I am using window version. Wat do u mean pre-allocate? Does it mean that i have to open Bittorrent client (like Bit Comet) first and select a download folder which is same as the path in the Deluge? Then wat should i do? Leave 2 of them running together or just pause the client one and run the deluge? There is setting that you can pre-allocate files for utorrent. I don't know for other bittorrent clients. Just open whatever bittorrent client that could pre-allocate, run the torrent, save it on the same folder and close it before you use deluge.

QUOTE(RViN @ Oct 29 2007, 06:45 PM) Anyone else suffering slow speeds for the past week or so? Or is it only me Anyway been using the Linux version on Ubuntu, never bothered to try the windows version. Anyway I found 0.5.6 to be unstable on Ubuntu, seemed to crash often. Reverted back to 0.5.5 and it's really stable. Change Full stream to Either on your Encryption under Preferences > Network Tab. My Deluge hardly gets any connection with Full Stream on. I think the TCP/IP patch is freeware, shouldn't be a problem.

After doing a lot of tests, Deluge on Windows is only good for downloads. It doesn't work on multiple seeding.

Certain torrents still works fine. Maybe it's not just Screamyx, it's other ISP that is throttling.

Sometimes it's not TMNet, it's the user with throttled client fron other ISP that is throttling. Some don't even bother turning on the Protocol Encryption.
My deluge 0.5.7.1-3 works perfect.
