Yay, got everything installed and my ubuntu is up and running in vmware. BT is like the good ol' days now hehe.

On a side note, linux is way to troublesome for a regular newb like me to be worth a dual-boot.
*
linux is not troublesome.. u will get use to it later.. now maybe u a newbie, but later maybe u will be a pro. Use this chances to learn about linux while u torrenting.. tongue.gif

hard to justify your statement. i believe the best way is for people to use whichever client they want and let them decide.
*
i dont said deluge cant get high speed, but ktorrent can connect more faster to peer n can connect to more peer. The best thing is, ktorrent dont have such a headeache setting for encryption. So its easy for beginner.. thats all..

So thats why i recommanded ktorrent over deluge coz its easy to most people here.. hope u got my point.

I may be having some problems with my connection..First day I installed Deluge, everything worked like a charm.. 70+ kbps dls..But after that, the performance degraded..now i'm able to get about 10-20kbps on certain torrents while the rest are stable at below 10kbps. I tried ktorrent like suggested also but same results. Btw, here are my settings. Anything which I need to change or anything else that i could change? Thx.

That's the point. Install Ubuntu directly and you don't have the need to come back here.

are u sure?.. n what is wrong for them to come here n asking about their problem. At least they can learn sumthing from their mistake.. they also can learn about vmware n ubuntu at the same time.

Got deluge installed, NAT working, etc. On startup, everything looks good - DL speeds are good, but after about 5 minutes, DL rates dropped pretty drastically. Happens every time. Any ideas? I have encryption at stream-level for uploads and downloads, but am starting to wonder whether TMnuts has started to act on this.
*
try use ktorrent.. some people get better result with ktorrent. N try port forward the port instead using nat option in deluge or ktorrent, sumtime it works better that way..

u guys should keep this thing low profile... once tmnet throttled deluge peerid, this client will be useless like bitcomet or utorrent. So please, keep ur excitement to urself.

I have downloaded all that you mentioned and some more but it seems that after a few seconds or when I fast forward, the video just freezes or breaks up.  The same video has no problems playing in Windows Media Player.  Any suggestions?
*
u can try download Automatix http://www.getautomatix.com/

or Easy Ubuntu http://easyubuntu.freecontrib.org/

this program will help u install all the codec u need, better media player n other usefull stuff for ubuntu

ok in all our joy of having stumbled upon a bit torrent client that actually works to overcome tmnet's short-sightedness, has anyone ever wondered if there are tmnet spies monitoring these forums? if they get wind of this, then they may put something in place to ban deluge or something like that. can it be done or am i being paranoid?
*
yeap tmnet can block deluge if they want.. they only need to block deluge peerid then wallah... deluge will be gone for good... People think that tmnet can block torrent encryption, but actually no. They still cant block torrent encryption. But they can block peerid, so after that even encryption are useless. Deluge n ktorrent can bypass this not becoz they got new type of encryption, but becoz tmnet still didn block their peerid, since this program still new n the fact it for linux so not many user use this program.

I built Deluge on Debian Linux myself, the source code can be modified to change the user agent and peerid to something else.
*
well thats true... u can change the peerid by urself if u know how... u can even change bitcomet or utorrent peerid..
