Hi bro, hopefully you can shine me some light on my current issue. The walkway from dry to wet kitchen is separated by swing door from the developer but somehow i feel swing door is not practical and dangerous for the people coming out from wet kitchen. I plan to replace it with a single piece sliding door and hack the wall on the left and right side of the existing swing door to maximize the 1.5m width. For the fix panel sliding door, i will use kitchen cabinet end panel as cover up...

Is this idea good enough? Or do you have a better idea? not planning to hack the bathroom and utility room... Appreciate your opinion... Thanks..

Hi sorry for late reply, I am busy completing my design drawings lately.

Yes for sure, you can demolish the existing wall and door that separate the kitchens and replacing it with new glass sliding door.

I suggest you can consider doing a full height storage cabinet right at the middle of the sliding door so you can close the sliding door tightly to keep out of cooking smoke from wet kitchen. This will looks nice and wider too while keep the sliding door opened to one side.

Hi thanks for the idea!! Do u mean when closing the sliding door, it will rest on the full height storage cabinet? Or it is it will slide in between two full height cabinet and end up resting on the wall?

since your kitchen entry opening is 900mm and the cabinet is 600mm depth, you need to have 2 nos of 450mm slidiing door then only can slide them in between and flash to the 2 full height cabinet.

I will said make the sliding door to slide and rest on the full height cabinet is a better choice, can ask contractor doing a 1 inch recessed vertical gap on the full height cabinet so the sliding door can closed gapless onto the cabinet.
