hi, my house developer already installed plaster ceiling for me, but with cornice at the side (refer to purple arrow). However, i prefer a plaster ceiling with right angle/some L box for lighting/or recessed curtain.

Is it possible to do some modification to current ceiling like adding some box at the side part? Will it be alot of work and costly?

Thank you!

Cornice is actually 'glued' to the side of the wall or plasterboard. U will have chance to have a perfect L after u remove the cornice or it's hollow and u need to patch it back with ceiling board/plasterboard to make it perfect L.

It will takes some skill and time for a DIY job and u might not make a perfect smooth line.

Since it is a very minor job I think contractor will still charge 1 day labour to do this.

Hope this helps.

Do note you will need to paint and patch back the the area you removed the cornice. Make sure the wall and ceiling paint is still available.
