Any pointers on carpet selection for living area? How to match the colors and what design to choose.

My living area is somewhat modern, black tv console with smoked glass doors, wall hung tv, truffle color leather 3 seat recliner.

I really like Persian rugs, feels classy but may clash. I think those modern high pile rug would complete the modern look and feel better.
