You must be practicing Kung Fu in a cave if you have never heard of the Ultimate Warrior Competition Malaysia.  tongue.gif

Read more about Bernard Radin the 2007 champ here: http://martialarts.com.my/community/module...php?storyid=490

Although it might not be a full NHB or Vale Tudo competition like the UFC, it's a good start in the right direction.

Are you interested to compete, or just wanna go watch?

I should get out more often. What art do u practise btw?
I hope to get the experience of competing but i think better to watch and learn first i guess.
Any upcoming events in 2009? i saw one muay thai tournament happening in February, but was hoping to see something mixed up.

Sorry what is NHB and Vale Tudo?

No need to get out more often, just get in the correct gym.  icon_idea.gif

I practise the art of in-ya-face-tapout aka rojak aka MMA.  laugh.gif

Seriously dude, before you compete, best you spar more. And be aware of the big difference between point sparring and full contact sparring. If you dunno, ask your instructor or sifu.

Not sure about events here coz I dun have time to monitor or go watch. I don't think there is any real MMA competition here, except perhaps few in-house BJJ competitions and private ones. The biggest "mix" competition open to all is probably Ultimate Warrior. Ask around.

NHB = No Holds Barred, Vale Tudo = full contact fighting with min rules (anything goes). Standup-Clinch-Ground-everything. You wanna see mix? See the video below:

Where are u from ?have u participated in any of these open events before?
i'm kinda looking for a partner to spar with (and not to get broken limbs). Are u interested? I'm about 170 cm and 60kg. I'm mostly trained as a striker, but would love to incorporate grappling and takedowns.

Youtube's "chosonninja" is a favourite of mine. I like his techniques and his movement. Truth be told i do most of my learning from analyzing videos, and mostly practise alone.

From KL. Nope I haven't participated in any of them. I train simply becoz I love to train.

I'm not a pro-fighter, so I only spar in the safety of my gym. I'm wary of sparring without proper supervision, safety gears and somebody who knows basic first aid. Our gym is fully matted, and most of us are trained in basic first aid. Unfortunately, it's for members only. Join one of our combat sports programs (CMD or BJJ) if you like to spar becoz we spar a lot in our gym. More info here: http://www.kdta.com

IMO, practicing alone and watching videos are not effective to learn martial arts. It's like playing badminton, tennis or squash. How to improve by training alone?

PM me if you have any questions re our gym. Cheers.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Running through theories and concepts are not useless. But of course, to be well rounded, practical application should be done.
I see that from the website, the cheapest cost is RM375 per quarter (for classes) + RM100 per year membership.
Is there any other option? Also will there be a need to buy the uniform as well? or can we just train with a normal T shirt and sports pants.

Are you by any chance the guy in the photo of the site ?tongue.gif Tough looking dude.
