does power supply will consume more electric if more devices added into my pc?
as a little bit of my knowledge...less devices means no need so much current to drive up my hardware..so will the power supply also will consume less electricity?

and does any power supply is design for save electricity? ?

theoretically yes it is true.
less devices means less electricity bills.

it also depends on the efficiency of your power supply.

sometimes more devices but higher efficiency power supply can also reduce hour electricity bills.

Izzit using a more new processor will be more power efficient?Like AMD's brisbane core and C2D which using 65nm process technology.If compare to windsor core..izzit will more dramatically save power?

In a little way, YES.

my fren recommended me to use icute green for the reason to save power consumption..im not so sure but after read d review for, its could be true..

better buy PSU that high efficiency

Also does the fabrication process for proc often determine how much of power the proc needs? or the amount of transistors...

Let's say,
Your PC comsumes 250w average, that's a lot actually.

250 / 1000 = 0.25kwh
0.25 * 24 = 6kw/day
6 * 30 = 180kwh

RM39.24 according to the calculator. Expensive eh?

Just agak agak la. Unless you are doing the same tasks everyday and have a device for measuring. Then you will be able to get a more accurate one.

if the above calculation is correct then those use 1000w PSU mah die =.=

like mine i calculate my ps eat around 500w

0.5kWh x 24 X 30 = 360w = RM78.48 :sob: that is high....those running sli and high end cpu, the cost can even fight with 1hp aircon cost =.=

i dun think the calculation is like that...

1000w PSU means the PSU is capable of delivering up to 1000w to the components, not necessary delivering 1000w at all the time.
Unless you keep your CPU running at 100% all the time, use every devices, else I don't think it will consumes 500w.
If a pc consumes more than 200w when idling, guess you can throw it out from your window right now.

That is absolutely true.

Let say, all your PC components use 200w (average).
If you are using an 80%-efficiency PSU

So it's like

80% x (actual wattage used) = 200w

(actual wattage used) = 200w x 100/80


(actual wattage used) = 250w

Therefore your bills would be like 250w x (how many hours) x (TNB tariff) = Tadaaa..

The power consumption also depend on your PC activity. If just downloading, then will not take much more power than idle. Watching playing game or doing 3d rendering work will cause your PC to consume more power.

By the way, not a lot of power supply have efficiency over 80%. If you plan to on your PC 24hour a day, I think it is worth to pay extra for better efficiency PSU.

But for a True PSU like CM,ENermax,Antec..hows their normaly efficiency?

I'm using true power antec psu ....been running 24hrs quite often...so far bills won't exceed more than RM120

Differs by model/PFC function.
The PSU thread in HardwareQ&A should help out a lot.

BTW for 24 hour usage, don't beso foolish to use high clocks.
Clock up only when needed. Helps out some.

Underclock/undervolting helps even more.
