Do what your social circle tells you to do. Suffer in installments or expenses then don't blame others.

My plan B is to go back Singapore work and buy a semi-D in JB. I used to work there for 2 years+ commute from JB to SG daily, but thinking of sleeping for 4-5 hours daily would be suffering.

Our plan to is to wait until combined income of RM25-RM30k and pay RM8k monthly installment for a semi-D in Selangor. We also have plan B which is working in Singapore and buy a semi-D in JB, but the daily commute would be a nightmare.

Nah.. Not sufficient.
U might need to find semi-D around 1M only.

Monthly would be around 5k.
Exclude maintenance & security fee.

Would u be able to sustain your lifestyle if u or your spouse loss income? A real possibility in coming year.. particularly semicon.

Do u really want to burden yourself with this liability just to keep up with the Joneses?

Don't live for others' expectation. Your life doesn't need to impress others. Just do and live what you can afford, what you are comfortable with. You are 31 now, two years ago you can commute back and forth; now not necessarily can as your body will also grow old.

Why do you think semicon will lay off workers?

Bro, if you leaving your job to SG or wherever, can offer me that position ah? Hahaha

I think if have the amount of salary you have, I would be satisfy in a terrace/apartment/ single-storey .

Then save and invest, or maybe open a business in the future...Idk you but for me I want to keep generating passive income.

Bro, its not hard to get RM8000 per month nowadays if you are willing to sacrifice. Even my SPM friends working in SG bar also earn RM8000 after convert.

How can you compare a semi-d between Ipoh and KL? Are you and your friends comparing sizes only? How about the cost? Most probably I will lose as I am staying in a 20mmillion apartment in HK.

In this current volatile economy its best to think what best for yourself. Later you guys might compare car and then what....wife?

Not the value, we are comparing lifestyle like a RM2m HDB will lose to RM1m condo in Desa Park City. RM220k Honda Jazz in Singapore will lose to RM220k Merz in Malaysia.

the fact that you keep comparing the lifestyle of your family (or you specifically) within your peers, is tad sad actually. and you don't even have to start this thread, not to mention this thread is not entirely appropriate to be discussed in this section.

you dictate your own lifestyle and your goals in life. understand first what do you want in the long run, where do you want to settle for your retirement. sekejap Ipoh sekejap JB, how's ppl going to advice you?

I guess the comparing race never ends, better to find peace within yourself. Besides, owning a landed unit at Klang Valley can be considered as "achievement" on itself since the price is not cheap.

If your friends look down at you materially, maybe you can consider to change your friends instead of feeling that you are "not enough" for them. Because at the end of the day, there is always something that is "not enough".

Wish you all the best.

Your condo in KL probably worth as much as your friends semi-d in ipoh. Just tell your friends you can just buy a bungalow in ipoh if u want to. But you don't want to because better career opportunity in city than "kampong". :haha:

Well,if according to income classification TS is in the T20 income group. But if u ask I have no knowledge of average income in the purchasing department and I do not know which industry he works in.

So, regardless he is still earning a good income to me as long as classified in T20 group

Me and my wife are in our mid 30s earning around RM17k nett income. Brought a Semi-D in Setia Eco Park for around RM1.5m. I guess you can consider using maximum 50% of your nett income to pay for property monthly installment because rarely you will lose money in property and it consider as forcing you to save money. We pay around RM7000 per month and still left with RM10k for other expenses. However, I notice some owners in Setia Eco Park rent out their house at RM4-5k per month due to loss of income.
