there is a thin line between photography and computer equipment there...

Sayang that he threw away the box but otherwise he had no hassles.

You could also try to carefully unfold and flatten the box and put into your bag?

JB customs will very likely stop you if the see you carrying anything in seemingly new packaging or flashy shopping bag.
