give birth also 4k,
confinement center 7k,
study degree 10k,
house buffet before actual day 5k,
need to buy the daughter some gold necklace and bracelet 3k.

so 15k dowry is kinda justified, heck im marrying this year and giving my MIL 20k as dowry.

unless both of your parent side dont wanna do any ceremony at all, just go ROM then gaodim.

I have seen a lot. Those who can't afford hantaran that much, daily life memang struggle to survive.

Not saying hantaran=how your life will be, but, it is something to do with financially discipline . High pay, if you don't save, pun tak guna. You will end up taking loans and there goes your life. Paying and regret especially when you gaduh.

Savings for kahwin should start as young as 7 years old tho.

Like my mom did for all my siblings. As small as RM20 per month, you will be glad, in 20 years from now, you can afford a dream wedding.
