Hi, wanna ask about the options for a small (5'x20') wet kitchen extension.
The contractor is recommending a normal roof tiles with zinc sheet under it.
But I'm looking for a lighter option, is those ACP (used for awning) suitable to use as a roof material? Or any other options that cost not too much than a normal roof tiles?
Reason for lighter roof is, my area soil is a bit soft, so wanna keep all the building materials as light as possible to avoid additional load that might cause settlement and cracks.
Thanks

QUOTE(ar188 @ Dec 29 2022, 09:33 PM) if u google acp, u can see how thick the aluminium coating is (rest is just plastic) . maybe u no appetite use as roof liao. i see, how about those metal deck roofing? The contractor said this will have higher chances of leakage in the future if compare with the clay roof tiles. not sure if it's true?

QUOTE(mini orchard @ Dec 29 2022, 09:55 PM) Cracks and soil settlement will also happen with the use of combinations of light matetials. You should consult a geotechnical engineer b4 starting work. ya we have the RC piling as well, so should be able to take all the loads. just wanna see, if there are options to reduce on the building weight, then can also consider it.
