For heat reflection aluminum foil, I would recommend this brand. Previously did some projects together.
Try to initiate contact with them to get the local distributor. Here it is. Parsec Foil

Hello helllo! May I get some advise from fellow forumers and sifus
I'm planning to redo roof tiles on a 30 year old subsale double storey semi-D (vacant currently till reno done). Major renovation 8-10 years ago. BU 4k sf. Previous owner roofing was not done properly with the GF roofing not having any flashing (cemented to the wall) and the damage of the leaking at the patio ceiling is obvious. There is also ZERO gutters. ![]() ![]() The initial 3 options I thought were : Option 1 : Most expensive (I guess) is to redo the whole roof – replace truss and tiles Fortunately the contractor who has inspected said the current wood truss is still in good condition. Thank god, can save some $$$ on truss Option 2: Replace damaged tiles + flashing + Repaint / Respray (not sure if roof tiles can respray?) The ID company I’m in discussion with mentioned they do not provide nor recommend painting the roof as they mentioned it can cause the roof tiles mechanism to be disrupted (not sure how), causing leaks? Is this true? I’m thinking option 2 would be the most cost effective Option 3: Retile the whole roof (maintain existing wood truss) + flashing Need some advise from sifus here on : 1. Is gutter for the whole roof really necessary? As the perimeter is very long, I’m considering only doing gutters at where the water splash maybe significant and to cut down some cost 2. Looks like it’s only option 2 and 3. I was quoted a massive RM50k for option 3 (sorry, I don’t have the total area yet, will ask my contractor): To dismantle, dispose, and supply labour and raw materials to build new roofing included: i Fascia board ii Roof Gutter & down pipe iii Concrete roof tiles (monier elabana) and necessary fitting 3. No mention of insulation in the quote. Is it possible to install insulation if I keep existing truss? If yes, what would be ideal (mid range budget) for concrete tiles + wood truss? Thanks in advance for any advise! This post has been edited by vernee26: Mar 26 2021, 06:57 PM |

Thanks in advance for any advise! My advice is to install gutter and proper rainwater discharge for the whole roof. Not only there's no splashing when rainwater hits ground, it prevents any damage it might caused. For roofing works, I advice you to get a proper or specialised in roofing contractor. Looks simple but not. A good roofing works can prevent a lot of future unnecessary damage (leaking, small animal walking on your ceiling, etc) |

Hi Sifu,
I am in the midst of contemplating changing my 20 years old roof. It is aging, and certain parts looks like peeling OFF. The roof was built for my extended kitchen. The contractor suggested tiles with plate ( I think it is zinc below the tiles ) I have written on separate thread on this. But today I notice this discussion here. Firstly, can anyone tell me my existine roof, is it ASBESTOS material? I am noob and not much knowledge on this. Hope sifus and other owners can provide some light. End last year I noticed two holes on top. I managed to patch the holes. I suspect, due to some fireworks that drop on the roof that created the holes. The current slop gradient is very much less than 30 degree. I think this roof can still stand couple of years more; but if it is asbestos material, then I will be prompted and trigerred to change asap. ![]() |

Hello guys, Im looking for a roof specialist for my roof.
Plan A: Repaint the roof. (But my regular Roof leaking Sifu advised me not to paint the roof because when it rain, the water cannot bypass the clay.) Plan B: New clay roof (Depends on cost) Any reputable contact? Thanks in advanced. This post has been edited by Suarez23: Jun 18 2021, 04:18 PM |

Forumers always ask for contacts but NEVER state their current location. Always think suppliers/contractor have wings. AbbyCom liked this post

Can anyone recommend a good roof gutter contractor? Got a part of my house gutter needs fixing as it has dropped a bit too much that the water flows towards the wrong end in heavy rain. Also thinking to install a couple of turbine ventilator.
