Hello everyone,

I have been having weird sleeping pattern for a couple of weeks. I am currently not working but have been constantly waking up around 5-6 in the morning regardless of the time I went to bed. I would be wide awake and faced difficulty falling back to sleep and would only be able to do so after tossing left and right for about half an hour then I would eventually wake up around 9am.

Previously when I was still working I would be able to sleep 7-8 hours straight on weekends.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get back to my normal sleeping cycle and sleep 7-8 hours straight? Or should I try not to fall back to sleep and wake up instead?

Thanks in advance!

Might be better to just get up when you first awake naturally. And then try to sleep earlier to get enough rest, since you auto wake up around 5-6am

You're probably right. Gonna try to sleep earlier and wake up naturally tomorrow.

once a while its happen to me also...naturally wake at the same time at 5am - 5.30am for many days....first few time I force myself to sleep again but eventually it made me feel worst when wake up at 7.30am....now whenever i naturally wake up...i will not sleep back again...and taking a short nap during noon for about 15mins. Myself feel better this way....

I'm not alone! So do you still wake up around 5am these days?

By ages, I slept lesser and lesser. Now, 4½ to 5 hours of sleep is enough for me. Or, maybe this time your body is not that tired as you are not working. Maybe when things back to normal you will be back to normal. Or during this non working time, do more extra physical activities to tire you up.

I do exercise daily though. Yeap, hopefully my sleeping pattern changes back to normal when I get back to work in future!

How old and what sort of job you do for living?

I'm currently in my late 20s and I faced my laptop most of the time at work. I don't do shift work so it really bothers me that my sleeping pattern is kind of messed up now.

Ok, so your brain not totally shutdown while sleeping.

Stop working at regular hours daily. Watch some TV for brief 30 mins before sleep, nice stuffs in youtube or tv or netflix. Drink some sweet stuff and brush your teeth. No cola, no coffiee please. Milk is ok and preferred.

Thanks waghyu! Will try to drink milk and sleep earlier.
