Top 3 unique things you learnt from the coach that were meaningful to you.
I just realized that there are a number of new accounts just opened with only posts defending Alaric. ???
Hello! I saw this thread on the forum and thought to share my two cents about it. Personally, I have the privileged to be mentored by Alaric Ong and learned so much along the way. Do hear me out, I promise that my reply is not to defend him but more of sharing my own perspectives about this whole topic about the courses by “gurus” and whether we should see them as scam or not.
1) Information is free but not cheap.
Yes, you can get heaps of information for free just with a click these days. Our search engine churns out millions of results in the fraction of a second! I agree we do not need to pay IF we know exactly where to find these information.
However, it is incorrect to say that because information is free, it should be cheap - sometimes we have zero idea HOW to search for the right information, or WHAT to do if we have the right information at hand. We need guidance. We need mentorship. We need support. We need hand-holding. We need to make mistakes and learn from them. We need to learn from our successes and gain confidence from them. That is what a good, well-structured paid course provide. You cannot get this from googling something.
As mentioned, knowledge is free but if you want accelerated growth and results, you need targeted knowledge so you don’t have to spend 6 months running about without a direction. Ultimately, it is our perceived value of the course vs how much we are willing to pay. If your perceived value does not meet the amount of the course, I suggest not to buy. It is unfair to say others is scamming other people’s money in general because what you are essentially saying is that everyone should have the same perceived value of a course as you. I apologise, but in my opinion that is a very narrow-minded view to hold.
2) Information without action is dead.
I believe that two people with the same set of notes will both achieve different results. It is like attending school vs doing well in school. I believe we all have the experience when we are still students, even if we attended the same classes and have the same notes, some of our classmates top the class but we did not. Why? Some of them put in x2, x5 or x10 times more than the effort than we did. And this is the same for attending paid courses: those who are more hardworking and are willing to try will have results as compared to people who refused to try after payment.
3) Everyone have different strengths and weaknesses, this will also determine our success rate.
It is true that everyone can start FB marketing, but not everyone will succeed simply because some of us are just not born talented with talking to people. Alaric’s course provides his detailed script, step by step processes of what he use personally to close sales. The thing is, even if we apply step 1-10, there will be variables because we are interacting with actual human beings! Everyone is different, hence every conversation is different. Those who are shy might not even dare to continue when they feel embarrassed, but those who are bolder will just stick through. Remember that classmate of yours that you envy because he/she clearly did not study but always scored an A in class? Some people are just born more talented than others, and we cannot fault the trainers/coaches for this.
I would add that I was once skeptical of paid courses - because our society prides having a legitimate university degree on paper more than some expensive paid course by some “guru”. I do not know about other “guru”s because I have never met them. I believe there will be genuine people and there will be people out for money - but that is not for me to judge until I interact with them closely. However for Alaric whom I have interacted with, I can say for sure that he is one of the most genuine coach I have met. He has walked me through from not knowing anything to being able to set 5 appointments in less than a week! He replied to all my screenshots, all my questions and even offered his time to join in my appointments to see how I can improve.
I do not think it is fair for us to have such strong claims about someone whom we have no personal experience with.
All in all, I standby the 3 points I have mentioned and I believe courses are not meant for everyone. My results involved me being proactive to start somewhere and to step out of my comfort zone, and I believe it’s the same for Alaric’s students who have succeeded. What I am paying for is essentially targeted knowledge which I am willing to pay and paid coaching time which is actually priceless.
Thank you all for reading my thoughts, and I hope people who read what I have to say has gleaned a new perspective to this whole topic about paid courses and hopefully helped you to understand Alaric as a coach a little better
