Do note that based on the specs sheet, it shows that you need the 4 thunderbolt port version to get 10th gen processors.
2 thunderbolt port, you are not able to upgrade to 10th gen processors. |

QUOTE(PoisonSoul @ May 4 2020, 08:57 PM) Do note that based on the specs sheet, it shows that you need the 4 thunderbolt port version to get 10th gen processors. make sense for higher end models to get the better processors.2 thunderbolt port, you are not able to upgrade to 10th gen processors. pricing is very decent. they actually down the price. meaning same storage now at cheaper price. looks like that 14-inch version is not happening. Hope they keep Pro line's heat pipe design. |

QUOTE(Higgsboson8888 @ May 4 2020, 09:23 PM) Noo, I probably can't install bootcamp and play PC games. Having a Macbook with Mac OS alongside Windows for gaming with external GPU is amazing, and I couldn't imagine having an ARM version that would be suck. |

Windows can actually run on ARM based machines. |

I know this is controversial, but I’m just gonna say it. People who are looking to buy the base model MBP at RM5599, you should consider the i5/512gb MBA instead at the same price.
You get double the storage, faster RAM, better GPU (even the i3 MBA can support Apple’s fancy Pro Display XDR with native 6K resolution but the base model MBP can’t). Where the base model MBP edges over the MBA is better multicore performance, and better thermal design. I don’t think in day to day regular usage, that would make a tremendous difference, but the storage and RAM are something even average users will appreciate. To be honest, I’m not sure where Apple is going with these 15W 13-inch MBPs. When they were first launched in 2017 without the touchbar, they were pitched as the replacement for the MBA. But then after Apple revived the MBA, they are just like an awkward middle child. Neither here nor there. Apple should ditch this base model and focus on making MBA the best laptop for average users (just like back in the good old days), and leave the MBP for high end users. |

People who are looking to buy the base model MBP at RM5599, you should consider the i5/512gb MBA instead at the same price. Depending on individual preference seriously. Personally I will go MacBook Pro anytime due to its design. You get double the storage, faster RAM, better GPU (even the i3 MBA can support Apple’s fancy Pro Display XDR with native 6K resolution but the base model MBP can’t). Where the base model MBP edges over the MBA is better multicore performance, and better thermal design. Apple should ditch this base model and focus on making MBA the best laptop for average users (just like back in the good old days), and leave the MBP for high end users. MacBook Pro has better display and speakers over air. It has brighter display and better thermal design for heavier tasks too. One can consider the 4 ports 512GB 16GB ram model. That’s the model that is best value for money actually. Personally if u ask me, I would prefer Apple to keep the Previous12-inch model for Super compact design, come out a bigger14-inch model to join in the current 16-inch family. That’s should be the perfect line-up for macbook. Personally I find the MacBook Air is ok a more awkward position which it is not as compact as the 12-inch but it is using a lower powered processor. Obviously Apple purposely did not use the latest 10th processors ok the base mode MacBook Pro becos it will kill the MacBook Air line-up becos the price gap is very very minor. At the same time it is also to push people to go for the 4 ports modes which is more value for money for what is getting. This post has been edited by westlife: May 5 2020, 12:47 AM |
