Wow I've been looking for this. This basically answers the 1st question. This should work the same way with other brands also right? I don't get the lan port 3 part. Can it be any other port on any other brand?
If I connect the router as lan to wan, the secondary will be on it's own private network even though its sharing the internet.
if using something like Mikrotik, you can use any LAN port since you would be setting everything up by yourself. If I connect the router as lan to wan, the secondary will be on it's own private network even though its sharing the internet.
not too sure about the other brands VoIP passthrough but for Mikrotik, to use the Maxis router just for VoIP purpose, I have to bridge the VoIP VLAN and setup a PPPoE server for the Maxis router to dial properly (saw some that doesn't require the PPPoE step but oh well, it doesn't work without it for the Maxis technicolor router that I have)
